Very cool toy for big boys, I’ve done a bit of amateur Tower work so this is very cool to watch and I’ve also been around that place where your sign is from many many many times, enjoy
What a cool Antenna/Tower installation, top notch all the way. I have heard it on 80 meters and it does a very nice job. 73 , W7HTX. Great video, nicely done. 💯🆒📻📡
Am I confused about the bolts? They look like they only threaded into the ground about 1"? I have installed many light poles and we always installed the anchor bolts with the concrete pour. The bolts protrude from the concrete and the light pole is set onto them.
What a coincidence, My Father (SK) put up a 20m four element quad in the '70's with the same size concrete footing as yours, needless to say, the mast still stands today! 😏👍🎙⚡️
At the start of your fine video I thought your tower was a radar mast off of a Navy ship. Looked up Tashjian Towers they definitely do some heavy duty work, that's a beautiful looking tower I'm sure that antenna system will brings your group many hours DX enjoyment.
I agree… It would be so easy to spend way more money on that on some automobile. I love that tower and that antenna is phenomenal. I hope he’s enjoying it. Also, looks like he gave some local businesses a source of income… Kudos 73, to him.
Brian, W7BJN, reported to me "The base was engineered for plenty of threads beyond fully threaded. They are construction grade fine threads and done strictly by the TRI-EX engineering specs."
As my Elmer taught me, what goes up, must come down. It doesn't matter how heavy it is, eventually it will fail. Too many people puts too much emphasis on 80 meters because that is where all the idiots hang out at night. You noticed he said DB, but with no reference, DBI or DBD...
hope you grounded all 3 legs of the tower, and high on the tower legs. you dont want lightning to hit the concret to distroy or crack the base. Futher more the system to control the antenna does not like lightning a surge will wipe out that system easily......GOOD LUCK !! nice install !!! w2ot. ( less moving parts the better ) lesson learned.
@@donalfinn4205 A LOT of people do not know that I do metal fab for parts on transmission towers was shown a base on a TV xmitter over 1000ft tall that destroyed by lightning the experts had goofed and let a grounding of the rebar to the earth and tower shot straight through it . Hence I rebuilt all the brackets for its replacement tower .Just because some one is a expert does not mean they cant screw up .
What’s wrong with the person wanting to do his own thing? What does ego have to do with this…? Is he interfering with you and keeping you off the air? I know certain amateur operators who are extremely proud of their QRP set ups. I guess he’s on the opposite end of the spectrum.
man its nice to see how hams with unlimited funds can play with antennas or contract it out to someone and let them do it for you. My dipole works good and I have fun using it.
I agree… It is nice to see a man who enjoys life. And it’s pretty obvious, He’s enjoying this beautiful set up. I bet the contractors appreciated the business. It was an extra source of income for them. Myself, I live in an extremely nice house, and I let the contractors do it all for me as well… oh, and the car I drive was built by other people as well. Getting my point?
better you than me - I couldn't put up with all the B.S. and the bragging that "has" to go along with such a thing - (gimme a long line & a tuner, w/ a j-pole in the corner)
@bussi7859 My thoughts exactly! Well my first reaction was "Why ?"... Did you notice the antenna swinging around in the wind, in the last few secons of video.
enough to know these people are throwing money at a boat with a hole so they can talk to people on the other side of the world while using modern tech to do the same thing for a fraction of the price and much better redundancy. @@snakezdewiggle6084 2-3 years of observation, and countless people spending thousands of thousands for something they get on their phones but without any video, or backups.
@@snakezdewiggle6084 I noticed the antenna sway in the last few seconds of the video… Did you notice that it was time lapse video? You do realize that antennas are supposed to have a certain amount of., “give” to them, correct? If they are too rigid, they will snap.
Unfortunately, some people just want to show off how much money they have‼️Extremely sad😢 His mention of 220 volts is incorrect! Utility companies have been providing 240 volts to homes for decades now.
Great... You win. Nothing more to say other than you win with all your awards, resources and money. Interestingly enough, 99% of all Hams around the world could not afford anything close to what you have. You should have awards with the amount of money you spent in amateur equipment. I am happy talking 10 meters over seas on only 60 watts and a wire in my tree. By the way... I did achieve my Technician, General, and Amateur Extra in three months. I have that going for me....
