Hi Dave, had a real good day, nothing in the UK IMO like Bike Park Wales. I have not been to Afan for a few years now but the main difference between the two is that BPW is truly aimed at the descents, there is a 4.5km ride to the top but all the trails come back down the hill rather than a full loop. Grading of the trails is good and there really is something there for everyone, the blue and red's are probably more like the typical trail centre, if you like going down then worth a visit
Cheers Easa, Was impressed with BPW as felt it was the first place in the UK that was aimed at Gravity riding for every ability. I didn't go down the pro line, from what I heard there were some pretty sizeable gap jumps and I am not the best person at jumping so stayed away from it. Definitely get on the Uplift, we managed 10 runs in the day so got to learn a couple of the runs really well. Cheers Dave
Hi Jacko1trek, thanks for the positive feedback, bikes a Trek Remedy 9 perfect for all the trails at Bike Park Wales running 150mm rear and 160mm front. Cheers Dave
Remedy 9 as well, 2012 model. I tried a few different bikes and it just felt the best one. I honestly would go for the 36's, it slackens the head angle a bit and the 20mm bolt thru and 36 stanchions just do not flex at all. You can get a kit from Trek to adapt the front wheel to 20mm (although it did cost £35 as you get QR, 15mm and 20mm and won't sell individually) so a fairly easy swap.
Cheers Dave, I'm new to the gopro as well so just getting me head around editing it, I'm from Nottinghamshire so it'll be about 2 and half hours for me aswell
Nice riding! Went up to Bike Park Wales for the first time today and I wasn't disappointed (except by getting billed a fiver lol). Hopefully I can get on the uplift next time and try some of these black routes. Do you have a video of yourself (or anyone else) doing the "Trail X" pro line bit as I really want to see what thats like?
Not been there yet but on the strength of your footage I fancy it. Those trails look proper gnarly, they haven't spared the rocks and you weren't going slow! The quality of your file is one of the best I have seen on youtube but still a lot short of the original footage (presumably in HD). I am struggling to get a quality upload - any tips?
Yeah works no problems, the Remedy used to come standard with 36's. As the fork is slightly longer in its crown to axle length you are raising the front end slightly which in turn increases the head angle, similar to swapping the mino link at the back end. Not local to wales, wish I was tbh as its a 2 and a bit hour journey :-( Checked some of your vid's and have subsribed so look forward to seeing more :-)
ha ha, yes mate it did, I decided to leave my DH bike at home and pleased I did as I had far more fun on the Remedy. I use it on my local DH tracks as well and TBH now thinking do I really need the DH bike as well. Put some 36's on and you will transform the bike :-)
Yea I've got the 2013 remedy 9 love the bike to bits was thinking of putting the 34's on to help stop the flex because the 32 are far to much flex, ill love into the 36's then which remedy you riding?
Cheers someoldskool rider for the kind words. I record my Go Pro in 960 mode and it does loose some of its quality on upload unfortunately. I use Cyberlink Power Director V10 for my editing and find it one of the best with a lot of choices to compress the files. I generally compress to MPEG 2 format but I do play around with the file and add a bit of sharpness and colour settings to it as I find it gives a far better picture when uploaded, without adding anything it just looks a bit flat
Hi Gary, swapped out the 32's for a set of Float FIT 36's, I did consider the 34's but with complaints of diving which is what I was trying to resolve I decided against them. The 36's are awesome though, far better than the 32's and have so much more confidence in the front end of the bike. Picked up a hardly used set off e-bay half the RRP so very happy. Do you ride a Remedy?
So the frame goes with the 160mm forks ok? Is that where it slackens the head angle alittle more? Just looked on eBay there's no 36's on at min but I'll keep looking, you local to wales then
