A couple of weeks ago, I decided to get my Schwinn World Sport 12-speed bicycle out of storage in my parents' barn and clean it up to start riding again. I'd never taken it with me since every place I had before buying my house a year ago never had any place safe for me to park it and keep it protected from the elements. While the bike appeared to be in worse shape than I imagined, I took it to get new tubes and tires. The place I took it to also lubricated the gears, chain, etc. and did a little cleaning for me. I also purchased a new helmet and gloves, even though I never wore them when I was a kid (not taking chances now). After replacing the bottle holder, the bike, while still needing some work, was now rideable, and I decided to try going on the 12.44-mile Tallgrass Trail, a rail-trail west of Marion, Ohio. While I didn't make the whole trail due to some issues that cropped up, the issues were easily corrected when I got home, and the bike is now truly ready for future rides.
