From my experience, there is a safety thing what she is missing. I use a bike antenna to keep the leash away from the front wheel. It is much more safer!
You have missed quite a lot when it comes to doing this sport. You needed to mention the basic commands your dog needs to know before you hook them up to a line and go bikejoring or mushing sport... Also, your bike is missing the lead holder thingy to keep it away from tangling in the front wheel. It is vital, otherwise, it could harm both you and the dog...
Agreed! Teaching mushing commands first is so important!! Not only to avoid crashing and injury but also for the dog to be able to confidently run up front. I have talked to quite a few people who tried this by essentially just hooking the dog up like this and giving it a go and they tend to crash and then sadly never give this awesome sport another chance.
I have issues with gears locking up because I have never used them and i can never remember how to use them due to memory loss caused by seizures and then trying to get the timinh right due to high functioning Autism. I need a mtn bike without a gear system. Brakes are good to have but, needs to be stronger then the dog(s) to help rhem slow up or stop without getting locked up in the process. Also, handlebars need to stay put and not be pulled out by the dog (s).
how disgusting. Talking about telling them to line out when clearly the dog doesnt know it or is to shut down to do it, your "assistant" is DRAGGING the dog into a position you're saying it should KNOW. The whole video the dog is nervous, and you're just ignoring it. Incredibly forceful and incredibly disgusting. Also 'funny' how every time the dog gets dragged you move the camera to you. This is NOT training. Nothing about this is positive for the dog. I support bikejoring, and do it myself, but this is just forcing.
Agreed! This is how you risk that your dog becomes scared of the new activity and everything will just be harder from there. I like though that they said to just have the dog be around the bike and get used to all the sounds. Giving the dog time to get used to everything is important too. This is not an activity you can just start in a day. I think having a second dog that already knows this activity there would have helped.
