wild camped twice...both in a rubber plantation. not by choice but had no choice. normally stay in the run of the mill no-tell motels. some real dives out there but the aircon always works, working showers and they keep the rain out. 350-600 baht. love the separate bungalows...easy to roll in the bike. beds are hard as i'm sure you know...one time i had an unusually bad sleep on one. i guess I'm a bit slow on the draw but never realized it until the next morning that i was sleeping on a box spring. nice episode....thanks.
Great information. I have camped and used small mom and pop motels. I have had relatively good luck at these small motels. Usually vintage 1960s. Some are remodeled, and some in need of an update. They are usually less expensive here in the states than the big chains. Big chain motels, however, usually offer a breakfast, which is a nice perk. I have also stayed with relatives. No bed and breakfasts. It's way too pricy here. No warmshower or hostle stays.
So far, I’ve usually set out on tours with a mix of accommodation in mind, from wild camping, established camping grounds, hostels, motels, and occasionally even something more luxurious! And also with WarmShowers hosts when it’s possible, as it’s great to meet other cycling enthusiasts, especially as a (so far) solo traveller. My main idea has been to remain as flexible and open as possible to the vibe of each potential spot, and to the types of experiences likely to be gained from all the different modes of overnighting. Then, financially speaking, my average spend per night is what I look at over the long haul. Thanks for a great video!
