The southern part of Sweden has good bike routes easily accessible from continental Europe by ferry and from Denmark and Sweden by train. The routes lead you on small countryside roads through farmland and forests, to historical sights and small towns. In the summer you find plenty of festivals and events, and beaches along the coast. Bicycles are allowed free on the regional trains on a first-come-first-serve basis in Skåne, Blekinge and Halland. In Kalmar County you need a special bike ticket. There is a good range of accommodation, both rooms and camping sites, but in the summer you need to book ahead a day or two, especially in July which is the main vacation period in Sweden. If you bring a tent there is plenty of space in between the villages and towns for camping if you want to stay a night and enjoy nature (see the “Right of public access” in the links below).
