Come along with us as we set off on a bikepacking trip across the Netherlands and Belgium!
A few months ago a friend told us that we could travel on Ferry's from the UK to Europe with our bikes! Having dreamed of doing a bikepacking trip abroad for as few years but feeling unsure of how best to transport our bikes, that planted the seed and 6 months later here we are catching the P&O Ferry from Hull to Rotterdam to begin an amazing bikepacking trip having planned our own route on the Komoot App between the Netherlands and Belgium!
We also stop by a few historical landmarks!
Check out our route!

A few hints : - Most shops in Belgium close at 6.00 PM. Except for supermarkets closing between 7.00 PM and 8.00 PM (often 1 hour later on Fridays). And " Night Shops" with varying hours. On Sunday you won't find many shops open besides restaurants, café's and a few supermarkets. - If you are looking for a meal look for any "frituur" or "friterie", Belgian equivalent of your "Fish & chips". Usually closing at 9.00 PM - 10.00 PM. - Watch out for roaming costs, one of the "benefits" of Brexit. - watch out for incompatible banking systems or costs involved, another "benefit" of Brexit.

Probably one of many ways to tell we’re tourists hahaha!😜 another would be that absolutely everyone was overtaking us! 😂

Hi Suzi and Ryan. Just watched this video. I saw you took the stairs on the bridge there irs a cycling pad going up. Thats makes it a bit easier going up. I live in Rozenburg the village between the bridge and ferry.

Thanks so much for the tip! Will keep that in mind as we are hoping to return soon! It’s nice to hear from someone local to the area!

That squeaking sound is coming from the disk breaks? Definitely you need to carry the light pieces of metal that would calibrate the disks by adjusting the screws. Cheers. Luckily the miles were flat I hope?

Hey this is Ryan, the majority of the route was flat thankfully. The squeaking varied on the trip, I put it down to dust and not enough lube as the bike was brand new. Thanks for the tip regarding the break calibration!

Thanks for sharing, good to know about the ferry access etc. We’ve just started planning our Euro 2026 bike packing trip back here in Australia after completing LEJOG last month!

Wow LEJOG that’s impressive! How was it and how long did it take? The Ferry was really easy and accessible, if you have any questions about it for the future we’re happy to help 🙂

@@ryanandsuzitravellife7608 Thankyou. We did it over 18 days and it was amazing to see the UK from a bike with only two days of heavy rain we were blessed with the weather. Most of the elevation was in Cornwall and again in Scottish highlands.
