Scott, I've been cycling for many years. I'd just like to make a suggestion. Your friends, near the end, were talking about how hard that hill on that paved road was. Earlier, you said that you inflated your tires to 15 LB. From what I understand, Fat Bike tires can take 20 LB. That extra 5 LB would have made a big difference mounting that hill. I have 2.5 inch tandem bike tires on my mountain bike converted to a touring bike. Unlike most mountain bike tires that take 65 LB, mine take 80 LB. If they drop to 65 or 70, I can notice the added drag even on the level.
Ok guys, this is probably the gazillionth time you have been asked this question: "What type of Fatties are you touring on?" My wife and I tour and were considering a tandem, but since picking up a set of used Framed Fatties for riding in Michigan winter, we our having a blast on them. Very versatile, and can go almost anywhere! We are considering upgrading to Surly Pugsley touring Fat Bikes. We're in need of some expert advice on what Fat tire bikes would be the best for touring, thanks!
Awesome couple of videos. Thanks for posting, the info is inspirational and informative....looking forward to do the COLT in a year or two, schedule permitting.
I enjoyed the video! I am in Anchorage AK and have been riding my first fat bike this winter. Interesting to see the touring from the fat bikes. Thanks for making the video.
What a great video adventure! I first saw you on your camping trip with Joe Robinet but this is a completely different style of damping. Awesome video, lots of great and interesting shots. Am a new subscriber, looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
Good trip, Good vid guys. iv'e bike packed most of the canal paths in England in my younger years.(im 49 so not done yet) its about the the only way you can keep away from the traffic and fumes for any sustained period of time an miles over here. so watching your vid is kinda personal to me. i so wish we had youtube back then. i could look back and OMG at myself. which you surely will in years to come. i'm looking fwd to you getting Joe out of his canoe and on a bike. he promised in front of witnesses right? Thats how i came to find your channel, you probably hear that a lot? good job on the vid. Gary.
There are some countries, like Germany, where cyclists are obliged to wear helmets so I was wondering if Canada was one of those countries. But I do support wearing the helmet, it's really a good choice. Cheers!
Helmet laws and most traffic laws are the responsibility of the individual provinces within Canada. These laws are only in effect while travelling on public roads. For example, I live in the province of British Columbia where there are laws forcing cyclists to wear helmets but if riding my bike on trails or anywhere essentially a car cannot, the laws are not applicable and one can ride without a helmet. I believe this is recorded in the province of Ontario.
I LIKE THE FAT CARGO BIKES THE SALSA BLACKBORROW GX EAGLE & THE SURLY BIG FAT DUMMY. SURLY OWNS SALSA HEY IT IS NOT WHERE YOU GO BUT WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND. ALWAYS CARRY 1WEEKS WORTH OF FOOD AND 2 DAYS WORTH OF WATER CHEERS 👍👍
Looking forward to you getting Joe Robinet out on the "loop". However, If I were you I think I would add a few extra days to the schedule... Just sayin...
