You can see in Austin's body language that he's concentrating, and drummers who don't have a lot of recording experience might mistake that for an inability to play this song down comfortably. But I'm 99% sure that what he's concentrating on isn't so much the song itself, but playing it extremely cleanly. People with a lot of recording experience know that even their best takes will have occasional rhythmic inconsistencies, hiccups in the time, etc. He's playing a tough, tough song here, but he's also trying to play it without even microscopic errors. Dude knows what he's doing.

Bruford was the master of odd time signatures . Not many cover him . Very good

Everybody who is new to that freakn britttttishsm snoby jazz-rock: Bill came from YES, than he joined KING CRIMSON, went on tour with GENESIS, founded UK (where he met Allan), then took Allan, Jeff Berlin and Dave Steward for his first solo album, called Feels good to me....... I'll be forever a lifetime fan, cause this music had an immense influence on me and stay in my pocket .........Maybe Bruford invented that kind of linear drumming, he played stuff like that back in 1969......

Great job man. Those Bruford albums are foundational for me along with Bill's Earthworks. And as hard as that is, Bill makes it look effortless. And that's what's truly scary.

Hey! Welcome back brother! Was wondering how you’re doing and hoping to see a vid. And wow, here you are, interestingly bringing a Bruford favorite! Very timely! I’ve also been deep diving into his various musical excursions over the last few months. And just prior to that , found myself playing this (9/8 or bar of 5 /bar of 4) very groove and for awhile not being able to quite remember where I stole it from haha. Then finally listened to Feels Good To Me once again and aHA! There it is. Used to play (try!!) along to this whole album when it came out. Killer version and amazing drumming as always!! While I'm here can I point you towards Barry Barlow's drumming for Jethro Tull - particularly Thick as a Brick, Passion Play, Heavy Horses and his impeccably constructed solo Conundrum on the live album Bursting Out?
