I missed this one somehow. Brilliant stuff, and kinda makes me self-analyze a little bit. At least he's aware of the issue, speaks about it, and really wants to fix it. Your reaction and breakdown were great Blu! 🎉❤
The only time I had a bath, I relaxed so much my kidney stone went down and I was in excruciating pain for the next 4 hours until the medics came, it was 4 in the morning on Saturday.
Bill Burr never gets old! 0:58 Pretty much describes the vast majority of women. Funny how women claim to love someone while simultaneously trying to fundamentally change everything about them. I always thought if you love someone, you accept them for who they are. Guess I'm old fashion. Men marry hoping she'll never change. Women marry hoping he'll change into the man she thinks he is in her head. 10:03 NAILED IT! And they will ALWAYS find something to cause drama and problems!
Another astute reaction. Perfect and very keen breakdown of Bill's modus operandi of drawing off of his childhood traumas to create his great comedic subject matter, Blu.
4:00 yeah that was when you saw the comedy arts festival emotional speech in aspen around I believe 03' He talked about it there and his perspective on life seemed far different. In the first speech Bill seems hurt and almost rageful at what his dad put him and his fam through. But in this special he seems more at ease and like he's grown a lot more as a person, so maybe the way he told is testament to how much healing he's done. Or maybe I'm completely off lol we don't know the goings-on of his life, but I mean he still seems like his anger could use some work haha. that's just my two cents.
Bill Burr is an interesting mix for dealing with being male and the deposable sex in the world. Some rage against it, some make a joke out of it, most do what many call resignation. The truth, "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation." - Henry David Thoreau
The taking a bath bit really hit home for me. I have taken showers my entire life. The one and only time I took a bath was with an ex girlfriend, together.
whole bit elaborates an admission that bill has life-long deep-seated issues; this isn't an "as a man" issue - that's just bill's save-face way of trying to make it not about just him (when really, ofc it is - for the most part). deflection bc ego (is the mirror). and i say "for the most part" not to excuse anything but to reiterate fact that... 'stigma' is one thing, but boston-area homophobia - esp 70s 80s 90s - was as culturally embedded & steadfast as its racism. for the longest time there was no questioning anything about it. i honestly have no idea how the gay community managed to make massachusetts, of allllllll states, the first in nation to have gay marriages. less contradiction than paradox - but hey we see bill "evolving" every day, too. we should all encourage this redemption of the soul ...within bill ...within ourselves. bc i think he wears that part of the country on his shoulders, as well as sleeves, transmutating so much of its lead into comedic gold. his life, the furnace (of an alchemical bakeahhhhhhh ked~!)
Blu at 3:25😅/ "almost snapped his phone,,," reaction😅/ "this dude's a little f,,," reaction😂/ "I wanna try that!" (smiley face)😂/ "taking a bath and thinking,,," reaction😅/ "not allowed to be that happy" reaction😊/ "who I am as a person" reaction😅
As a man, I have no idea what Bill is talking about when he says he can't take a bath. I love baths, I take them all the time. I get in trouble for making them too luxurious. Even if it were stigmatised for me, I would just think about how ridiculous Roman men would find that.
You really must check out Bill's Monday Morning Podcast and his Thursday Afternoon Monday Morning Podcast. There are great clips from the podcast on RU-vid ... Bill arguing with his wife, Nia are priceless. I'll be watching for a reaction to some of that shit ... I mean stuff ... Hey, I've got some issues, too. Cheers.
