That's also why they keep having him on the show, in spite of the fact it seems like Conan's liberal thin-skinned audience ranges from nervous laughter to sheep-like baying in response to Conan's laughter himself. And then Bill Burr starts talking about his views on women and some people stop laughing altogether. But fuck them because Burr is a genius and probably my favorite comedian right now.

Emanuele Chiocchio Agree with everything except for the metaphors part. He does use metaphors but he doesn't 'dumb them down' for us consciously, he himself has admitted he's pretty dumb himself (though he's obviously measuring it based on education rather than wisdom). So he's very wise, but it's not like his mind races with huge 7 syllable words that he has to stupify for the audience, he basically just speaks whatever is already in his head with occasional tweaking certain phrases/words over time to make it funnier. Definitely needs to be appreciated more

or maybe his fans, including you, once again overestimate famous peoples' wits just because they rail against political correctness and then you idolize them to the point of calling all comedians some new brand of philosopher when all they really just do is try to make people laugh. the funniest joke is ironically the fact that everyone who says that about their idolized comedians is exactly the type of person that comedian's social commentary criticizes the most.

I have literally turned around, not KNOWING what was back there, found a woman sandwiched between two big guys, she in a cast, and flat TOLD her how we were patient and polite, but enough already...THEN gotten the stink eye from her, as if she was doing NO wrong, and flat spewed at her and her buddies, "And you;d better wipe that stupid look off your face or I'll break your OTHER arm!". Or had some 20 something kid with his date TALKING during the last five poignant minutes of a film, and gave him the look, then have to say, "We're trying to watch the movie", only to get a rude, "So WATCH IT, then", and myself have to LOUDLY say, "So SHUT THE FUCK UP, THEN, ASSHOLE, you've been talking out loud for THREE MINUTES!". bwc3821 Some play original stuff, so it's more of trying to strut their stuff live... which can still be difficult if it's all premade. Either you put up a laser show or you just stand there nodding your head trying to look like you're doing something. But I suppose the praise they get is mainly for producing stuff... I would think so at least.

bwc3821 I've been on stage with a mate of mine during a set, there is a level of intensity to know when to mix etc but thats all i really noticed...not much more than knowing how to work a mac..he was a psy DJ though so I respect that Genre a whole lot more than the mainstream mixing..

bwc3821 Well people like Deadmau5(the mouse head guy) have said they don't want to be called DJ's because at concerts he only plays songs that he made himself. He is a producer and makes the music he plays. What they do on stage is pretty much just mix songs together and add some tweaks here and there. A DJ is just someone you hire for a party and most DJ's don't get grammys, only the producers do which is fine since they make hit songs.
