Bill Cowher was the perfect coach for the Steelers. He brought that hard-nosed, blue collar work ethic that Pittsburgh was known for and a defensive minded intensity as a former player. The defenses under Cowher were incredible and made you earn every point and every yard. Coach Cowher, thank you for the memories of those hard-hitting Steelers football games and welcome to Canton.

That's because he was a son of Pittsburgh... he grew up here... and he knew how to inspire people, however also to make them put in the hard work they needed to put in. And he held people accountable. And as we all saw on the sidelines, he never held back. But the players respected him. He earned their respect with his knowledge and he brought out the best of everyone around him. Miss him to this day! But he absolutely deserved all the accolades he got. And he absolutely deserves being in the Football Hall of fame! Congrats to you Coach Cowher!!!!

So thankful he mentioned Marty. He should've had a chance to go in while he was alive. Most underrated head coach in recent history. Every team he left had a worst winning pct. with the coach who followed him. He had a better winning pct. than every coach he replaced. 2 fumbles and John Elway being great are keeping him out.

Wow @jjbirden88 posted on here. I remember the days as an elementary school kid way over in San Diego (I'm a Chargers die-hard fan by the way, since 1993) watching you catch TD passes near the back of the end zone or just finding ways to make plays for the Chiefs and Falcons. Them Chiefs teams you were on from 1990 to 1994 were some of the most talented rosters in the NFL in the 1990s.

Exactly, Mr.Cowher. Marty Schottenheimer was a great,great inspiring coach and person. We met him before a preseasongame in Berlin 1990. We had a short chat about the game in general and he was surprised to meet germans who were total football-maniacs. He was so respectful and straight to the point. Never forget him.

@MrPerfesser
@MrPerfesser 3 года назад
The last part of that speech brought tears to my eyes, because it told a truth that we know in our hearts but sometimes overlook. Dan's offering the Rosary Beads to Bill - and Bill accepting them though he was not Catholic - exemplifies how we can accept and love one another regardless of our differences. It was at that moment that I realized that of last night's Steeler inductees, Donnie Shell is African-American, Troy Polamalu is a Pacific Islander, and Bill Cowher is a white Yinzer. But they are part of the same family - the Steeler family, and Steeler Nation loves them all as beloved members of our chosen family. If only the whole world was more like that.

@@The_king567 I mean I guess.. I'm just saying that in the original comment I don't think the person was trying to say that they've had 3 coaches in 100 years lmao. But I mean they don't consider teams that won championships before the merger as having superbowls for a reason lol
