Live In Brussels - Belgium - European tour - 1958 (T.V Video) October 30, 1958 at the Royal Flemish Theatre (KVS) (Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg) "See You Later Alligator & Rock Around The Clock" in Concert .
Saw Bill on this tour in The Grand Opera House Belfast when I was19, will never forget the experience as I had the first love of my life with me at the time....we are still best friends.
Anyone can interpret most songs but the way mr Haley plays and sings Rock around the clock was and is so unique to this day ...that .....they don't even try ...because Mr Haley is "the untouchable". When it come to his music or life entertainment....and they know they will not be able to come even- close to his delivery.........and it's no surprise that...."Rock around the clock". became number one around the world long before any other rock song was introduced........
Rock around the clock film watched recently on talking movie channel on tv very enjoyable great rock n roll bill haley and comets great dancing too from that era better tgan garbage music today
Bill Haley & The Comets became the first-ever rock 'n' roll band to tour the UK, Europe and Australia. Among those who saw Bill Haley & The Comets perform on their landmark first UK tour in 1957 and who were inspired to start their own rock 'n' roll bands - were future members of: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Hollies, The Animals, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Rod Stewart and many of the other musicians who formed the British Invasion.
It was in the ‘60’s, a concert by Bill Hayley and the Comets, he got upstaged by none other than Johnny O’Keefe. It was great, a concert with two great Rock stars.
When you think about it, its really old school Texas/Louisiana style. You don't get no better than that. Gatemouth Brown and Johnny Winter, need I say more? I will if need be.
Energetic performances from Haley, Franny Beecher, Ralph Jones, Rudy Pompilli, Al Rex, and Billy Williamson. Restrained audience, but understandable in the context of the show.
Esse É O Pai Do Rock O Verdadeiro Pai Do Rock Que Tem Gente Que Tenta Negar Mas Bill Halen Foi O Primeiro A Fazer A Mistura De Country Com Blue E Veio O Primeiro Rock Roll Da História ! ESSE SIM O PAI DO ROCK IN ROLL !
Que gran artista es Bill Haley y sus cometas dificil es interpretarla en directo Rock and The clock pero lo hace magistralmente un grande sin duda Rip en paz.master grande
A few miles to the east, the German kids were wrecking the joints....talk about contrast! A year before in Liverpool,we were standing on the cinema seats and jiving in the aisles!
It's is a VIP concert, the public is filtered for the TV programm , which allows to have a good document of good quality, It was better musically than to see riots and fights filmed by German and U.K TV, it allowed us to have a concert filmed with correct sound and correct vision. ;)
Thanks for posting. It is a curiosity the identity of the distinguished-looking fellow the camera keeps cutting to. Actual performances from 60 years or more ago are rare.
From what I've read, Franny Beecher played the "Rock Around the Clock" solo that way on purpose. He didn't want to completely replicate the solo that Danny Cedrone (1920-1954) did on the record; he wanted to add a bit of his own style. And it's good. In later years, Beecher would do the solo just as Cedrone had done it. He was a great guitarist!
Who is the guitarist in this clip? I know the original guitarist (Danny Cedrone) from Jamesville,N.Y. (10 min. from where I live) died pretty young . but I don't think he toured with the band.
Franny Beecher was the guitarist of the Comets from 1954 to 1962. Danny Cedrone played leag guitar on studio with Bill Haley on he following recordings: "Tearstains On My Heart" "I'm Crying" "Pretty Baby" "A Year Ago This Christmas" "I Don't Want to Be Alone This Christmas" (1951) "Sundown Boogie" "Rock the Joint" "Icy Heart" "Dance With a Dolly" "Rockin 'Chair On the Moon" "Stop Beatin' Around the Mulberry Bush" "Real Rock Drive" (1952) "Rock Around the Clock" "Thirteen Women" "Shake, Rattle and Roll" "ABC Boogie" (1954) On June 7, 1954, Cedrone was back with the band in New York for the session that yielded "ABC Boogie" and "Shake, Rattle & Roll." A little more than a week after that, when the guitarist was back in Philadelphia, Cedrone went into an eating establishment to order some food and, while leaving, fell down a flight of stairs and broke his neck, dying instantly. Donato Joseph "Danny" Cedrone (June 20, 1920 - June 17, 1954) R.I.P
@@benbop1965That's great info !!!! Thank you ! I heard he had a terrible accident. R.I.P. Danny . And those are some great licks on "Shake, Rattle, Roll"
No, it's a steel guitar, but he rarely does solos, he mainly uses it for rhythmic support. Probably because the time was over at Country and Western and he and Bill Haley were good friends, and he didn't want to kick him out of the band. But, he also sings solo and does backing vocals. 😉 Billy on vocal : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9pUrhG9UehU.html&ab_channel=BillyWilliamson-Topic Billy on Steel Guitar Solo : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_lPU6xwc8Cs.html
You have to remember besides in the US and England, there wasn't really any rock n roll being played, and this is still the 50's here, very early stages of rock n roll.
+Jess Odlum I'm guessing some count or something or some other sort of royalty of Belgium. This is old school, 60 years ago and they still had that sort of thing back then. Not sure now. I'm curious too by the way.
I know it's a late reply. All I can say: Belgium is a monarchy so there's no president. It wasn't the king either. Probably someone from a noble family or owner of a big factory. We still have counts and barons but it's more and more a meaningless title these days.
As mentioned Belgium is a Kingdom and that man was most definitely not the king of the Belgians. Baudouin was on the throne back then and was way too young to be so bald. He was also a very catholic man, so no rock 'n roll for him, as a matter of fact I doubt any royalty would have shown up at a rock 'n roll performance back then.

Marlon Hitpaß it's not that they were bad but they were more into the older big band sound ..and mr Haley and the electric guitar rock and roll sounds were a novelty to those in. The audience. As well as most people that saw them or heard them the first time....
People weren't enjoying it that.much, so they probably wanted to leave quickly. I think he was even being sarcastic when he called them music lovers because he laughed right after.
