One of my favorite songs for about 20 years, and I'm just finding out it's from the perspective of Theo Van Gogh. I'VE SEEN A FEW INTERVIEWS with the grandkids and great-grandkids of Theo... sitting around chatting about the family, telling funny stories, saying "do you remember when..." To us Van Gogh seems unapproachable, and art professors treat him like modern deity. But to his family it was "great grandpa Theo" or "uncle Vincent" or "grandpa had the paintings stacked in the back room"... It's surreal to see that the true story is much more about family than you'd expect (the Van Goghs plural), and much more approachable. Here's one of the interviews, but I know there are more out there: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JgIKU6n2CQA.html
