Something that has always perplexed me about these types of conversations, especially when they lean into what Reza was talking about (depending on the politicians and industry leaders, etc) is that there is so little brought up about self sufficiency. There are quips about recycling our water bottles and carpooling and blah blah and how they make no difference in the grand scheme when the powers that be continue to destroy the planet…but instead focusing the energy on making your own home and family more self sufficient so that in the event of disaster you can still maintain a comfortable life seems like a logical way to lean. Growing your own food, collecting rain water, producing your own electricity and heat, etc. It may seem like a drop in the bucket but if more and more people (who are able to) begin to live that way then not only will they be helping themselves, they will be helping the environment as well. Adding less stress to the grid, building soil and carbon capture in their own land. It seems like paired with regulatory and industry change empowering millions of people to do their part to close their own cycle of use and need would be a good boost in the right direction.

I've been listening to and watching your podcast since you two started this thing and I am flabbergast at the fact of how little views, comments, and popularity the show has compared to others! These topics are the issues we need to focus more on or very soon there won't be a planet to have these conversations about. I understand that deep philosophical questions and topics are not the things the average person wants to discuss, but if we don't, we can never make human progress on healing our planet and stopping self-destruction of it. Thank you both, Rainn and Reza for creating this podcast, I am love philosophy and it has saved me so much but I like this way of philosophical thinking than just sitting at a table and discussing about what is philosophy.
