When people are in conversation like this and make quick retorts off the cuff, this is most often when they are likely to auto-pilot their way through a self-projection outburst.
The number things are twisted out of proportion or taken out of context in politics is quite terrifying. It really displays the stupidity of the general public and it’s inability to make its own judgements. Please think for yourself, do NOT rely on opinions of companies. The speakers for said companies, and in most cases any guests involved, were payed to say what you want to hear. See the source material first, see other people’s opinions later.

I think it's sad the dude was able to make a carreer out of that... That he plays droves of ignorant people who don't see him for what he is/was,,, And that a channel is able to thrive on that pettiness, still.
Exactly. Bill (when he wasn’t sexually abusing co-workers) loves to quote things out of context or not even acutely provide the quote at all, but gets all heated and shuts folk down when someone actually has the evidence and facts on cue.
He went to the trouble of reading Bill's book so that he could still lose the argument. He wrongly tried to imply that Bill was pro drugs by getting personal... all of which was a form of avoiding the issue anyway!
He literally took the quote from the speaker out of context right before and then he has the audacity to blame someone else for it. I only wished the kid called him out on it.
Tide goes in tide goes out… Some producer should have been fired after this. The 24 hr news cycle creates segments like this that leave anchors like O’rielly in situations where they argue with children about make believe
@@doe-dw9lo I mean the old white dude already saw the kid as stupid and belittled him for bringing up facts that didn't fit his narrative. A kid making a kid response is the least immature thing that would've been done at that point.
@@doe-dw9lo lmao. ***** That just means that this "pin head" outsmarted him and Mr. O'Reilly is now insecure, feeling threatened and needs to resort to name-calling/bashing/anything to overcome his insecurity and regain the upper hand. It is really amusing in this regards, but even better in debates -- you clearly win if you make your opponent begin to name call/be immature/ etc.
“the kid who fits my narrative gets to talk; but the kid who disagrees with me gets interrupted constantly and belittled” - fox news reporting since whenever the fuck they started

I don't watch CNN or anything but they at least let their guests get their point across then press them more on it rather than interrupting and belittling them.

Not because he doesn't agree. It's because Bill knows he's being dishonest, and doesn't want it exposed. His audience is dumb enough to just take what he says at face value, but when you have a guest reading the actual quote, proving you're lying, you gotta shut that down.
Most of the right's propaganda machine is like that at this point. Truly a tragedy. Hopefully conservatives can take their party back from the GOP after a few decades.

Yeah, the high schooler came really well prepared. Probably spent a fair amount of time doing his homework for something that only lasted a few minutes and in which he had an extremely small window to say his piece. It definitely wouldn't be easy with Bill O'Reiley interjecting. Like when he asked the high school kid what was the main big lesson that he took from this drugs and sex ed class, it would be extremely normal for someone to pause for 5 seconds to stop and think and he would pounce on it and say "See?? You can't even think of anything worthwhile!".

Here's a bit of advice for anyone adults in an argument with a teenager... don't insult them when you're losing losing argument... it kinda makes them look professional and you look like a little angry man.
It's considered an ad hominem fallacy to attack the character of the person rather than addressing the argument. It's a shortcut, and suggests that you're incompetent to handle the argument itself.

Bill just talks over the kid when he senses himself losing. The kid had some valid points, but we couldn't even hear what he was saying. It's one thing to win a debate on hard evidence and logic. It is quite another to drown out what the other person is saying because you don't want people to hear it.
That's how O'Reilly argues his points. O'Reilly and all other anti-science people think that logic, reason, facts, direct quotes, proof, data, and evidence are irrelevant and the only thing that is relevant is their beliefs and viewpoints. It's not about getting a message across or proving your point, it's about winning an argument. Watched a video made by an anti-vaccine person that was titled "Never lose another vaccine argument again!" Which is shocking because I never thought any of them would admit losing an argument ever... I digress; to them it's not about saving lives, preventing unnecessary suffering and disease, preventing permanent harm from preventable illness, and lowering the cost of healthcare; it's only about winning an argument.
Have you ever watched a debate on the news? When ever the "minority" starts to win the host of the show just talks over them so they look better. This is why the news is trash and I just learn the news from articles on the internet.

They are not obligated to speak truth. Since they are not true journalists. FoxNEWS is "just the name" of the channel. It's actually owned by Fox Entertainment Group. If you look up a court hearing in Florida. You'll see where they state "Our show is just for entertainment, etc... We are not news." So that's how they get out of the legal obligation of reporting facts. (Since they are not news.) It's quite ingenious and twisted. USA should make a law on the word "news". And you can only display the word "news" when you are actually doing the news. When it comes to opinions, etc... "News" should come off the station. So people KNOW when they are no longer under legal obligation to tell you the truth.
***** Not it's not. You ever watch your local news that only comes on for about 30min to an hour? They just say what is going on. That's it. www.dailykos.com/story/2007/07/31/364678/-Fox-News-wins-in-court# Here is Fox News in court. (Saying they blatantly lie, distort the truth, etc. Since there is nothing stopping them from doing so.)
***** So when a reporter says that a kid was hit by a car, or two people shot outside of a 7/11, that's just an opinion? Because that's what News is,'this happened to day'.
squidb8 Of course it is opinion. They do not simply say, " this kid was hit by that car ", and move on. They offer OPINIONS as to why and / or how the kid was hit. Similarly they offer opinions as to why someone was shot outside a premises. That is how they build up a following, by sensationalising the news, as opposed to just reporting it.
I absolutely hate Bill O’Reilly. He invites people on to hear the other side but proceeds to berate, belittle, argue, cut off, make fun of and twist their words. It’s an ego trip and dangerous for viewers. It’s never a debate, it’s an argument.
I’m so confused on how Bill O’Reilly is wrong in this. The guy DID say if he had it he may do it, which literally admits that he’s okay with it, otherwise he would say he wouldn’t do it because it’s wrong. It’s nuts that nobody seems to care about that.
@@PrevailingFreedom Hard to know the context of the remark because Oreilly interrupted and insulted the student, rather than listen to the boy who actually attended the event. Well done that kid Jesse for owning Bill, so much so Bill resorted to calling a child a pin head. Man im glad that dude isnt on TV in the UK, what a total prick he is.
he didn't own anybody. all he did was be rude to an adult that was definitely right in this case. my school wouldn't allow other kids to be interviewed for the paper talking about their drug use because it was INAPPROPRIATE. My family (on one side) has ALWAYS been open to me about their past and told me their stories. I'm now 18 and I've never drank alcohol, I've never smoked Anything legal or illegal, I've been pressured but felt no urge to whatsoever and that is because I was told OPENLY and HONESTLY the real dangers of drugs BEYOND what it does to your body. It may be inappropriate but it shouldn't be inappropriate. That's like not telling kids in schools that we were responsible for mass genocide of Native Americans because some would deem it unsavory... OH wait. We need to drop these outdated taboos.
I’m all for having discussions between parties with opposing views but holy shit how is anyone supposed to get a word in with how much Bill kept speaking over the young man?? That’s Bill O’Reilly getting owned (quite easily, I must say) by a sixteen year old on his own show. It’s amazing. In not even five minutes, he was literally called out by someone who I’d wager as being roughly a quarter of his age, maybe slightly older, for doing the exact thing that he went on to accuse the sixteen year old of doing, and resorted to calling him a pin head. Like, this debate consisted of him saying something that contradicted his book and the sixteen year old pointing that out, on his own TV Show, on National Television. Just… well done.

It’s hilarious to watch a fully grown man who pretends to have a great deal of maturity and knowledge in all types of subjects nearly instantaneously turn into an angry teenager… meanwhile the actual high schoolers act with more maturity than Bill evidently has ever had. daweifortoday I know that. It's just the way he looked, like someone who wasn't completely right in the head. This demonstrates how thoroughly prepared you need to be just to stay level with these types of anchor. eg 'what did you learn....OK go!' With many teenagers prepared average or worse that would result in vagueness, faultering or floundering, and O'Reilly obviously planned to pounce and say 'sounds like there wasn't much of any value' but he wasn't given the chance. The biggest thing the kid in the middle showed up wasn't just that Bill was wrong, but rather the utterly loaded prejudged way he was setting up to address the segment, and by extension I'm sure many other segments.
