For some thing new I decided to have a go at doing a batch of four lever lock arms two right hand and two left arm out of 6061 alloy I used 2d adaptive , 2d contour, thread milling and chamfering, but after adjusting the feeds and speeds before machining the fourth part some thing very strange happened in the second last operation the 2d contour around the outside of the part the spindle speed was ramping up and down if you have any ideas about this please leave a comment ok . Well I got a lot out of making these parts and I hope people get something out of watching the video, cheers Bill

Reason for the rpm change on the 2d contour is due to the ramp spindle speed not being the same as the spindle speed in the first tab on the toolpath. Either manually change/check it every time, or simply type tool_spindleSpeed in the box, hover over the right side of the box, press the 3 dots and then press save as user default.

Yes you are 100% correct spindle speed was set at 18000 and the spindle ramp speed was set at 15000 easy to miss but I will check that every time from now on and yes I use the set to user default a lot thanks for pointing that out to me cheers Bill

I watched your video on making the clamp recently, and Liked & Subscribed. I was offered this one today and watched it immediately. I intend to work my way through everything on your channel... this is exactly the sort of coverage any hobbyist will "lap up". There is a vast range of CNC videos out there, many of them very good, but you have really nailed it! Thank you so much.

Hi John it's great to get a comment that someone is getting something out of my videos, I am trying to make them informative and interesting and not just showing my successes but also my stuff ups and failures as that's how we learn, well that's how I learn ha ha, thanks for subscribing John . Cheers Bill

I've just found your channel and I think this is a fantastic machine you've put together. Also, I like your T-shirt, Newport is a great city.

Looking great Bill. Do you ever plan to make a video detailing your electronics, particularly stepper drivers & which mainboard / software you're using? Thanks for the content!

Hi Christopher if you have a look at my RU-vid channel I did a basic video on the sparks and lightning that runs my machine . But just a little recap because I am using Clearpath Nema 34 servo motors with in built stepper drivers don't need drivers in the electrical enclosure and because I am using the Masso touch screen controller I don't need a main board all of which works great for me thanks for the comment cheers Bill

Love the threading operation.

Hi yes CNC thread milling is great it allows you to dial in just how tight or lose you want the thread to be in a number of ways usually by adjusting the PDO ( pitch diameter offset ) or the diameter of the hole you have milled on these parts I set stock to leave at 0.2 mm when milling the hole and got very neat threads Ok cheers Bill

The automatic tool changer is really cool! Building my PrintNC right now, but it wont be nearly as neat as your machine.

I think the feed rate changes once the ramp depth has been reached, it switches then to the regular feed rate until the next ramp down starts.

Hi yes that could be it, though I have done 2d contour before using ramp down and it did not happen. I will go back and look at the Cam for that operation again cheers Bill

I found that some how the spindle speed was at 18000 and the spindle ramp speed was at 15000 ???? something that I mucked up again ha ha cheers Bill

How do you adhere the metal to the board
@williamnorris1516
@williamnorris1516 4 месяца назад
It's a little trick a lot of people use clean both surfaces and then apply masking tape to both surfaces you then bond the stock to the spoil board with supper glue but if cutting small part if you can't add screws you will have to leave tabs ok cheers Bill
