A couple years ago one of the top comments on this video was: "When did we stop dreaming of a better world?" It really needs to be the top comment again.
Not gonna lie, I almost cried watching this, it might be the music or the concept of being young and doing something greater than life, whitest be young and clueless about our own future. Just loved this.
I know what you mean. I was picked on alot in the 80's in Edmonton, (lots of Asian refugees from the wars settled there) My parents weren't though they came here on their own. But still lots of animosity towards the Asian community, especially in the 80's.This and other innocent movies from this time really got me through some very rough shit... Helped me decide my career path of being a helping person (volunteerism, drug psychologist-homeless advocate-mental health advocate). That this future is still very possible. I kept on trying to self improve with this goal to make this "Excellent" future a reality. However, I'm too "excellent" to others and they take advantage of me often. This is a big no no in the human service field, sadly we need boundaries. But I want to have boundaries I want to help as much people as I can. Like Fluttershy or Penny does (Doctor Horrible). So movies like this is essential to my self care.
As a kid in the 80s I found it vexing that these two lovable boneheads in a silly movie made more sense than most of the moral authority in my life. Rip Rufus.
I always get kinda choked up at this scene, just the idea of a society being able to actually meet the people who put them on their path. And to be bill and ted and feel sense that feeling of forshadowing of greatness, you can see it in their faces as they look around at everyone strumming, a stunned kind of humbleness. Its a campy movie and concept for how they changed the world, but the feeling behind it is awesome, definately one of my favs out there.
Considering this particular event is a known point in the future-kind's somewhat variable timeline, it would be as if Jesus/Buddha/Joseph Smith/Krishna/Lao-Tse/Muhammad/Sea-Man was going to come back for one minute, convey a holy message to the people, and then disappear forever... and then "the prophesy" actually came true. The collected spiritual leaders of the world would be kicking themselves if they missed out on that moment. However, if they weren't true believers and instead sent their aides in their places, THIS is the kind of moment that would happen. So you are right to get choked up.
@@birddog117EXACTLY this! and the older I get - the more apparent it is that the future council knows what they will become but still recognises that they’re just kids at this point, who don’t have a clue - but one day will change the world
I love how, to these people, Bill and Ted are these legendary heroes who pretty much made their awesome future society possible. They grew up learning about them. And maybe in their history, it records that they briefly visited the future, but didn't include details of that part. And imagine being one of those people there, and one day the ancient legendary heroes just show up, and you're like "Oh shit, is this THAT?! Is this when they went to?" and then "OMG THEY SAID THE THING!!!"
And also in this spectacular moment, these 2 idyllic guys are standing right there, they are all amazed, waiting for them to speak, and Ted's like " make something up" 😂 cracks me up still
My favorite part is that the "be good to other people and have a good time" philosophy of two dolts is what saved mankind. That's where the heart of this movie is. Like two Forrest Gumps save the future. Hopefully they get that in the new one.
I love how optimistic it feels at 2:00 "Be Excellent to each other." then the way Keanu Reeves delivers his line "PARTY ON, DUDES!" it's a beautiful moment.
Every once in a while you come across a song in a movie that not only "clicks into place" but leaves you with the feeling that it unquestionably belongs with that movie. This is one of songs. Kudos to Robbie Robb.
I was a senior in high school. working at a movie theater when this movie came out. We had this movie. I always seemed to walk in right at this part. You ever have a moment, a smell, or a song that that alone brings back a rush of memories of a certain time, or place? That's what this part does. Great memories of a really, really great time.
Bill and Ted are very warm, kind-hearted people. I take their message to heart everyday. When asked to make something up, what comes out of his heart is "Be excellent to each other". Beautifully bodacious and most righteous! What a nice message from such kind people!
It's just so awesome when Bill and Ted are getting ready to head back into the time stream, and before leaving, they're all "later", and *all* the future people reply with "later!"
I was hoping deep down that In Time would have been the song written to align the planets and bring them into universal harmony. This song is, as Ted said, most outstanding.
Because as long as there are people in the world trying to advance the world and make it better there will always be people who fight against it and want things to stay the same
It's because of movies like Bill & Ted's that the 80s will forever be the most excellent time to be a teenager. I was in highschool when this movie cma eout. That along iwht Back to the Future make the 80s such a magical time to be young. Most Excellent!!!!!
this movie ROCKS! I was on my 1 week field trip to yosemite on my 7th grade trip when we saw this movie on the bus, this is probibly one of the best movies ever and im lot playing!
What gets me through this dark time is I live it, and it has made me determined to change things. There are lots of people improving their communities we could always use more help though .
I was moved by this scene. The way the people of the future didn't need words to communicate, the way thoughts and feelings seemed to flow between them all, like they're all (on some level), one. Ted got it. He understood. So did Socrates. I imagine a lot of the creativity that made the group famous came from Ted. I feel the potential for this kind of joining in myself and a lot of people. That's why I was so moved by this scene. I feel it. Its hard to explain but I feel it.
This scene show that something special within all of us trying to come out thats why I still believe their is hope for the human race. I hope people/countries/religion can one day set aside their differences, petty quarrels, hatred, and grudges and come together as a unified global culture. Within everyone lays the ability to make miracles happen if we all came together we would be able to over come any thing like diseases and endure any hardship and not even the stars would be out of our reach
there is such a place on Earth it’s called Auroville. A Universal Community living together in Peace abd Harmony. Check out „Auroville“ and The Mother. Strangely the Director of the movie seems to know of this place as one notices the symbol of the Mother is Under the timemachine as they land on it.
I just realized that it is actually a BEAUTIFUL thing for this version of a full song to be impossible to get. If we do somehow get it, We will play it over and over again till we get sick of it. Keeping it rare makes it all the more BEAUTIFUL. We can NEVER PLAY THE SONG OUT because all we hear is its peak and not the whole. This song is worthy of such an honor. I am officially dropping my search. I want this to be the song I could never get but Im still content with this piece.
I love that the action of strumming a guitar has become a kind of greeting/gesture of respect in this world. It’s also a nice touch the elder leader guys do a slightly more refined version of the gesture, reflecting their higher office.
be excellent to each other, Party on dudes! the song is by Robbie rob and the name of the song is In time. alot of interviews with this song say the song sounds it was ahead of its time (hints why they put it in the future section of the movie)I love this song~!
If only the future could be like this! This was always my favorite scene other than the part where Beethoven discovers synthesizers!!! . A very romantic and poetic scene. Robbi Robb's music with the citizens of the future coming out and air guitaring. The atmosphere was terrific! Always makes me think of when I was 11 years old watching this for the first time again.
"Be excellent to each other" and "Party on, dudes!" Probably the best cornerstones of morality, politics, economics, religion and culture ever devised.
This scene is more moving than those of a thousand others who try so hard. That such a movie can evoke a feeling of epic momentusness is amazing. One of my absolute favorite scenes in a movie.
I was today years old when I realized that the three future leaders are floating over a miniature Circle K! You can see the corporate logo on the 4K version. Talk about an Easter Egg!
I love this movie so much i never get tired of it. Can you imagine a future were theres no hate, war or destruction? A future were all are excellent to each other. I love the idea, party on dudes!!!
The oblivious innocence of this moment was the best part of this whole scene. To be the ones to bring peace to the future while at the same time they are meeting in person legends who brought the world together through their music is just awesome.
It would have been perfect if Bill and Ted's "Be Excellent to Each Other" would have been what changed the world, and their music got popular because of that. If more people would be excellent to each other a lot of problems would be solved.
This scene always reminds me of Plato's 'Kallipolis'. Those on the throne are the 'Philosopher Kings' everyone else is either a 'Guardian' or a 'Producer' pending on their talents and attributes.
I loved this scene as well. To me the most profound, and shows that as far as the future is concerned, how much the "losers" will mature and grow and ultimately effect the future of the entire world. The song itself I fell in love with the first time as well. More of a 80's metal ballad
Best part of the whole movie. Been searching for historical figures to show up in the future just as confused as the historical figures as to why they are a big deal. Nobody knows that they are going to influence society to such a degree. Wonderful.
