Bill Walton was with his family when he passed away, NBA spokesperson Mark Broussard said in a statement. He was 71 and died after a prolonged fight with colon cancer.
He led the Portland Trail Blazers to an NBA championship in 1977 and won a second NBA title as a member of the Boston Celtics in 1986.
Walton is survived by his wife Lori, and his sons Adam, Luke, Nate and Chris. He won a pair of NCAA titles, helping the UCLA Bruins to back-to-back titles in 1972-73 under the eye of coach John Wooden.
Commentary at the end of the video.

@@martinkurtz9269 It was not Bill's fault. Somehow, the doctors shot the players up with Novocain to win every game. Ramsay had a grudge against East coast teams. Bobby Gross HEARD his ankle break and never felt it. Bill got hurt and it was over. The Blazer front office was to blame.

For anyone who didn't know, Bill was part of an 88-game win streak, at John Wooden's UCLA Bruins. He followed (C) Lew Alcindor (later became Kareem) at UCLA. Bill was a 3-time outstanding NCAA college player of the year, 2 X NCAA Champ, 2 X NBA Champ, NBA MVP, & HOF. rip Bill.
