RU-vid gives you control over your streaming quality, but the options are limited to High (256Kbps), Normal (128Kbps), and Low (4Kbps). The 256kbps audio codec works great. This 256 kbps codec gives a much smoother audio quality experience over FLAC and Lossless codec’s. That is why this upload sounds very good.
I saw Grover Washington play live about an hour’s drive from Buffalo, NY. So awesome to listen to hear him play live. That was in 1988. And yes, he played this same song.
Great share!!!! The movie Notting Hill has a sound track that is most certainly worth buying for anyone who enjoys this song. It has Withers, Costello, Green, and a handful of others. My wife and I listen to that soundtrack from end to end.
I really like this full view at the turntable. Never quite understood the extreme close up view of the cartridge while playing. So for me it's a big step up. The sound has always been good
That is insanely amazing quality, I love all the instrumentation. The stereo channel separation in the track also sounds so good and dynamic. Thanks for this track, an absolute pleasure to listen to!
Thank you for this, and so many of your other videos. Your care and attention to detail inspires me to derive as much pleasure as I can from this wonderful hobby. You have also helped me re-think the value of higher grade pressings. Since watching your videos this past late spring I have upgraded my system with a new amp and turntable, but mostly I have focused on building my collection of quality pressings. I am enjoying music more than ever. Cheers!
Wow! Sounds perfect - always loved this cut by Bill W. MOFI has a lovely rich bass sound. Fantastic equipment you have there too. Thank you for sharing 👍
I love this video! Why? Well, for a few reasons. 1st, I would like to share something with you: during this past covid summer, I decided to upgrade my TT from a starter Onkyo (nice, but a starter) to a Pro-ject X2 (intermediate, but a serious upgrade). The colour scheme is the same as this TT. I love it! Wood with the fat acrylic platter. I bought an Ortofon Blue stylus to replace the Silver since it was an easy switch during the lockdown. This was based on feedback you gave me on another video. I then bought the Pro-ject clamp. My Onkyo amp then died on me so I replaced it with a Rega Brio. Together, they are wonderful! Then I bought a bunch of Mo-Fi records and have been enjoying my music listening so much. I feel like I have entered into a different realm of HiFi (sort of entry mid-fi) that is different than what I was used to. I have to say that your videos inspired me to enjoy this lovely hobby on a different level. Thank you for taking the time to post these videos. I know that so many of your viewers enjoy them immensely, as I do. Cheers brother!
I love your videos. I've discovered lots of music I may not have by watching these videos and then got them on vinyl myself. I only have a simple set up but hopefully I'll upgrade as time goes on. Appreciate the story board at the end. Really shows how much work you put into these. Well done, it's fantastic.
Used to have exactly this phono stage and the battery power supply. Battery is very quiet but the dynamics are gone with the wind. The set up was based on a Clearaudio Tallisman V2 mc cartridge, Michell Gyro SE turtable, Reed 2A tonearm. The sound was very clear, the system was very quiet but the final result was something with no soul. Everything was "right" but with no guts. Turn on a same price tube phono stage and the difference is day and night.
A smooth jazz classic! The Pro-ject looks and sounds great - and the "cut glass" effect on the clamp is a nice touch of bling. This is a very clean-looking setup too! I like the video story-board at the end! I wish I was that organised ;o)
just amazing video! wow i am in shock. all the details, the clips that turn like the bit of the song or like the mirror ball on disco club. sound amazing. no sibilance no nothing. thank you for your amazing videos. i just cant wait for the next one.
It sounds as new as the first day I heard it back in 1980 or 82. The set up was McIntosh, Lynn turntable (with Ortofon), and Thiel CS-5 speakers. The presence, and depth were so live like, I remember I kept asking myself "why do I keep smiling". The soundstage my God, I had to keep opening my eyes to see if someone sneaked in the room and started playing a cowbell or bongos. This takes me back to Myer Emco 1212 conn. ave. .😊
I think this might be the best sounding recording I have ever heard on RU-vid! It's even a bit better than the Dire Straits recordings on here, and some of those are pretty spectacular. When I first started to listen to this track I immediately thought - oh, not this song again, I'm so tired of this one. Then when I heard the sound quality I was immediately drawn into it, I was hearing things I had never noticed before. Then when the cowbells(?) started in the left channel at 2:40 I literally gasped! HiFisquarepants, THANK-YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS SONG AND YOUR AMAZING EQUIPMENT WITH US!
OK !!!!!!!!!!! .... Just one of the best and cultured tracks ever on probably THEE most sophisticated and cultured; ornate hi-fi systems ever !!!!!!!!!! .... Wow the engineering detail and and quality is fascinating and i love the glass of water at the end !!! .... .... How can i ask this question to a hi-fi "puritan" ????? .... If you went to an "institution for the criminally insane" and borrowed a "Single Ended Triode Valve Amp" and plugged it in ??? ... Would the sound reproduction be just as "mad" ??? ... ... "Be Away" these "blingy" new Rolls Royces and even Bentley 4x4's !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... As your hi-fi is a lovely vocation !!!
w an audio friend we compared cd and vinyl, no comparison, the vinyl filled the apartment w rich lush sound & no way to easily identify where the speakers were... that was 20 yrs ago.
I have a very decent vinyl and digital front end but I can easily identify where my speakers are, I can see them, they’re right in front of my listening position where they’ve been ever since I put them there... I know what you’re saying though, the sound completely escapes the bounds of the cabinets... I’m lucky in that I have that effect whether listening to vinyl, CD or streaming.
I look for vinyl music on RU-vid. This sounds AWESOME! Great video work too! Great sound! Thank you. 60FPS, I suppose that worked made shots of the turntable more natural.
Great video, sounds terrific. I don't have that album but i do have the Grover lp that the song came from. Bill Withers was a terrific singer and i need more of his records.
This is a beautifully shot video and it is no doubt awesome kit to sit in front of and listen to every crackle and pop. But everyone commenting here on the audio quality is suffering from a bad case of Emperor's New Clothes I'm afraid. After leaving this audiophile setup, the analog signal is being converted to numbers, compressed lossily by RU-vid, bounced off a satellite, decoded by RU-vid your end, turned back to analog by your laptop/phone's cheap headphone output and enjoyed on a variety of headphones/speakers, good bad and indifferent. Any 'quality', particularly detail, introduced by this kit will be more than negated by this chain. It's like using your phone camera to capture an Imax clip in the cinema, then watching it back and going 'woooow!'. Makes no sense.
