Bill would love that people are still listening and talking about the music . I was at his house a couple of months ago , he was still talking about coming out of retirement and going back to Carnegie Hall , he still had that commanding voice even as he was slowing down and still talking a lot of stuff . I been reading a lot of beautiful comments about Bill and the music and voice he left behind and I want to give thank to you loyal fans of the groove from James Gadson , Melvin Dunlap and Ray Jackson who passed and I pray Bill and Ray are Groovin in eternity myself Benorce Blackmon , thank you for letting this music into your life .

One of the greatest songwriters, artists that has ever done it and STILL with us. Notice that the commercials on tv are using his songs to promote their products! So far, I counted 4 . I grew up with his music. As an adult, it's part of the soundtrack of my life. He earned that Hall of Fame induction. God bless him. 🙏🏽🙌🏽

They work together flawlessly - funky, danceable, profoundly felt, original (best and only use of dadgumit in the musical world!), and you wouldn't want to change a syllable or a breath in any of them. Took days to get over the fact Bill Withers is gone. Appreciate him more than most artist. Shedding a tear tonight listening to him. He lived a long life. Every once in a while I come to this record and listen to his voice. That part where he explained that he felt something wasn’t right in his heart, I could hear the paranoia and sadness in his voice. It reminds me of what I felt being in and out of chaotic relationships I was caught up in, betrayal,and some painful hardships that I have not healed from. However, with that being said listening to this song makes me feel like I’m not all alone and it gives me a sense of clarity..at 31 yrs old I realize music back then was created to touch your spirit and your soul.

Bill is one of the most unknown artists for several of the greatest iconic songs. I have won more drinks off people on that point than I can count. He has a half dozen songs that everyone has heard and most even all the words but no clue who created it. Hell, just ask someone if they have ever heard of Bill Withers. More hits that still roll today, 50 years later, than 100 other artists they will know if you say their name.

Look up Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats...Andrew Bird..Cage the Elephant..Aloe Blacc even. Theres alot of bands out there that sound like they are from the 60s-80s..most just arent too mainstream so their music isnt promoted like all the other crap these days.
