Reading is fundamental people. The title alone says depth and YES , team depth , much less D-line is a problem. Was last year as well.

As a die hard Bears 🐻 fan , yes Caleb, it’s good to have Bold Goals , wanting to strive to be better than the GOAT. F yeah 👍 I like the attitude……. But let’s make it to the playoffs first b4 we get ahead of ourselves !

Caleb basically says it one time to the media, and it's repeated over and over. The media is the one who is getting ahead of themselves. 🤣

Nope. The interior of the OL is way more important - protecting the direct route to our franchise QB. The defense can wait.

We’ve been bottom two in sacks in consecutive seasons. We need to bulk up at DE. Quit playing.

we could be. we are very weak at QB and DLINE which are the 2 most important parts of a football team. of things go perfect, such as caleb being good from day 1 and our dline staying healthy then we can win. but if caleb plays like a rookie and sweat doesn’t get help we could easily win only 5 - 7 games.

Disagree. The Sweat effect will propel the Bears D-line to a top 5 group. Dexter, Pickens & Robinson will all improve. Booker will develop. The concern is depth.

They were excellent against the run, basically going from worst to first which was impressive. They have lost Justin Jones and Rasheem Green who was a part of that though so the hope and expectation is that Dexter and Pickens will take a year two leap and step up to fill the holes they've left. They had no pass rush until Sweat's arrival and that was with Ngakoue. If Sweat gets hurt they're going to really struggle again unless they get a surprising level of production from the likes of Walker, Robinson and/or Booker. They're not going to land another top quality DE, but if they can get a pass rush specialist then it will help. That's pretty much what Ngakoue is, but he was very disappointing last season. Maybe Poles can continue his run of luck and pick someone up following roster cutdowns, but given the value of edge rushers it's unlikely.

QB is our biggest weakness. putting your faith in a rookie qb with a D2 second year player as a backup are a recipe for disaster. i love the talent on the bears but we prob another year away from being great. we are very weak at QB and DLINE which are the 2 most important parts of a football team. if things go perfect, such as caleb being good from day 1 and our dline staying healthy then we can win. but if caleb plays like a rookie and sweat doesn’t get help we could easily win only 5 - 7 games.

Sure, Caleb will have issues being a rookie, but claiming his issues will make the Bears VERY weak at the position, when u havent seem him play one NFL snap, is some troll hater sh*t. so relax.
@shake6321
@shake6321 10 дней назад
@@DuncanPinderhughe not a troll whatsoever. i have long been caleb guy - before 99% of JF fans finally decided to join reality. however, if you look at NFL history, the average rookie QB, or even a top 25% rookie QB is well below the "average" NFL QB. and if you are below average then arent you "weak"? if half the QB in the NFL are better than you then thats not being "strong" at the position. I have faith in williams. i think he eventually be a top 5 QB in the NFL - maybe even #1. but to expect a rookie to be better than the 20th QB in the NFL is asking a lot. do you think caleb will be better than Levis or Bryce young as a rookie when we play them? I doubt it. but i hope he is. young, richardson, levis were all pretty good prospects and werent that good as rookies. so was Trevor Lawrence. Then, to top it off we have tyson bagent as our backup. so yes, we are indeed "weak" at QB compared to the average NFL team.

@jjc5407
@jjc5407 10 дней назад
@@shake6321 you're overlooking the situation Williams is in compared to the ones those other QBs you mention landed in. Williams is the #1 pick but was drafted by the team with the 9th worst record, a team that was trending up as the season progressed with a 7-6 record after losing its first 4. He has been handed a strong defense returning 9 of its starters and a plethora of offensive talent. He has what is widely considered one of the top WR trios in the league, a good RB group headed by a guy who made the Pro Bowl last year and a really good TE group featuring a top 10 player at the position, a quality number 2 and an ancient guy who nevertheless remains one of the best blocking TEs in the game. If the offensive line, which is returning 4 starters from last season, can stay healthy, develop and gel then he'll be in a fantastic position to succeed. That's the weak group on paper, with only Jenkins a bona fide stud and he's missed too many games in his career to date. Jones and Wright are young and show promise though. Davis had a torrid year with a bereavement and injury and underperformed badly. Hopefully he bounces back. Whether it's Bates or Shelton at center it surely can't be any worse than Patrick and Whitehair last year. As for Bagent as a backup, who cares that he was a DII player? They won 2 out of the 4 games he started last season. Most teams would be happy with that. He showed a lot of promise alongside the unsurprising rookie mistakes. He was cool, calm and in control. He navigated the pocket superbly, taking very few sacks in stark contrast to Fields. He doesn't have Fields athleticism but he nevertheless made some great plays with his legs. His arm wasn't great, but he's worked on that this offseason and from early videos of him it looks like that's paid off. It will be fascinating to see if that is actually the case once preseason starts. He threw too many INTs, but he can learn from those. Two were due to misreading coverage, not unusual for a rookie. On one the ball slipped out of his hand as his LT was pushed back into him. Another cannoned off Mooney's chest. Two others were bad balls thrown behind the receiver. There's no reason to think he won't learn and improve. I expect he'll have a long career ahead of him as a quality NFL backup. Bagent's only going to play in the regular season if Caleb gets hurt anyway, which we all hope won't happen. I'd rather have a young backup with potential upside than an old vet who's hit his ceiling and won't win you many if any games like we've seen in Chicago over the years. No more Chase Daniels, Bryan Hoyers and Jimmy Clausens.

Listen y'all got to stop coming up with these fake-ass lofty expectations that we don't expect the second year 4th round player to even come close to if you becomes an excellent player this year it's fucking great the u all not going to keep on setting up expectations for them to feel so you can then at the end of the season start hollering they should get rid of them that is not what your job is and frankly we're tied of it

The offensive line's health is a concern, but if healthy, they are better than the defensive line. The defensive line is weaker than the offensive line at the moment. The offensive lines' health history makes them closer.
