Billet Hood Hinges? 1970-1981 Camaro - CVF Racing 

Just bought a set of these for my build. Look forward to ordering my anvil Power bulge hood next. I’m dying for the day I get to see both on the car.

Well I seen your video on the CVF hinges, I bought a set (1970 Camaro) took me several days to get the factory original hinges adjusted, I knew these CVF would require more adjustment so I approached it with caution. They arrived, unboxed them (paid full price) they are beautiful, quality is 100% on point. Bolted them on, slowly and gently lowered the hood, seen it was cocked to the right, slowly and gently opened the hood and found the little turn buckles bent severely... I could understand if I just slapped the hood down. But I was not forcing anything, I was very careful and yet they bent. So Now I'm trying out that "world class second to none" customer service.. We shall see. These hinges look great, and the added adjustment is a double edged sword. It's nice to have the extra adjustment, but it will require more attention so keep that in mind. I've already reached out to them via Email but it's the weekend so of course the project is at a standstill until I get replacment turnbuckles.. 🤦‍♂️ **Update** contacted them and they immediately sent out two new turnbuckle adjustment rods at no charge. They also pointed out that once hinges are installed on the car you must install the struts BEFORE installing the hood otherwise all the pressure is placed on the turnbuckles causing damage. ( so it was in fact my fault and even admitted so but they still took care of me) These hinges are not easy to set up and adjust but if you take your time and READ the instructions/ watch the videos, you will be pleased with them.

Love the hinges. I will have to think about the price but I think getting the raw aluminum ones and then painting them to match my color scheme will work out great. Oh, you didn't link the McMaster bolts that you bought in the description. I went to McMaster and I could not find what you bought. Thanks for the video.

Still love that Carbon Fiber hood, that sucks that you are going to have to rework it to fit, but still have the center hump with Carbon Fiber showing. 👍👍👍👍👍

Awesome keep me posted on how the hide away wipers fit with that hood ..i have a 2 1/2 Harwood fiberglass hood on my 70Rs with the stock hinges the wipers definitely wont work or fit for shit lol thanks and wow your cars coming along very nice looking good!!!

The washers that are offset are called eccentric bushings.

Eccentric. a disc or wheel mounted eccentrically on a revolving shaft in order to transform rotation into backward-and-forward motion.

I ordered a set of these hinges and installed them today, they're awesome... I ordered it for a fiberglass hood, it came with 300lb struts which seem way too stiff for my anvil hood actually bowing it when shut, what pound struts did you get with yours?

Looks like the bolts provided by CVF are steel, the McMaster ones you purchased are stainless steel. $7 / bolt is expensive bit a worth it for the upgrade (besides the necessity). I'm not clear on why the provided bolts didn't fit ? Nevermind: I watched again, 3/8 vs 5/16 thread.

Do you have the part number on the bolts you had to get for this hood. I have the same issue. It was McMaster bolts?

I checked out McMasters and I don't have the carbon fiber kit. The size of the bolts and "cam" setup for the hood are 3/8-16 x 1" BUT the McMasters does not make a bolt that will fit this with the correct head size. They come with 3/4" head size which the cam is basically 1/2" and the second level pad on the bolt is also larger than the hole (3/8) for the Cam so unless you have the carbon fiber set you can forget getting these bolts.

What black is the engine bay. Simi gloss?

The bolts and washers are probably Stainless steal thats why they cost so much.love your camaro Watch all you episode.

Think it would have been easier to adjust them without the engine so you be under there with the hood closed. An crammed is a good word but believe eccentrics would the correct term.

It would be nice to know at the end of your build what you have in it .Total.

How long did it take to get the hinges? You had mentioned it was a wait.

The McMaster link brings you to 1/2” length bolts, that cant be right.

It's called an "eccentric" rather than a cam. Cam lobes are eccentric as well.

500 bucks for a hood hinges no thank you I will pass.

640 bucks for standard wo clear coat. A bit pricey for my blood. So I looked briefly and seen better ones for less than half. So whats the draw to these if that's the case? Is the name a big name? I'm not trying to be a knob but if its apples for apples and that appears to be. The other brands are all billit aluminum and stainless hardware aswell. The size appears to be the same in width and thickness. Cvr does have more lightening cuts in the arm vs solid with a recees cut that to me looks stronger and cleaner but obviously a bit heavier.
