i upgraded my input/intermediat but kept a new factory output (with added lube galley). my thinking was the output is the least likley to take anything with it and its decently easy to change compared to the other two...

Austin Washburn I know from experience NV 4500 only good to about 600 horsepower if you jump on it and 5th gear it will snap

Very few good parts are available for the NVs sadly. Still better than the G56 though. There are some write ups on the web about how to build an nv5600 to take more abuse than normal. They are expensive transmissions if you want to go fast or make power, otherwise they are great as you probably know.

the nv5600 is considered stronger than the 4500. 6th gear on them is still a little weaker because it doesn't distribute load very well the best thing is to wind out 5th gear all the way then hit 6th so it doesn't have a large torque load on it. The 5600 can take a decent bit more abuse than the 4500 other than that. Building one consists of heat treating the gears mostly and maybe putting a billet input in it but thats about all Ive seen for them on the web.

You say the 47rh shaft is stronger ? It does look to be alot larger but at what HP torque levels would you recommend it being replaced with a billet input shaft. I'm on a budget n don't want to spend money in the wrong places

Why would you loose the speedo worm gear? Can't the profile of the thread be modified slightly to eliminate that as a stress riser? I love what you guys are doing.

Todd, its said the stock 68RFE input shafts good for 650hp .In theory could a person whoes making 500-550hp who doesnt race or abuse their truck use the stock 68RFE input shaft , 68RFE torque convrter and modified stator with their 47/48re transmission?

Thanks I figured the seals and what not where in different places . I come from the world of SBC snd LSX parts a 300m billet shaft is literally 1/2 the price as a 47/48 counterpart. Seems like you say the word diesel and parts magically double in price. Now I know there isnt any more machine time involved. Just like injectors how does a set of 7x..013 edm injectors bodys cost more than 7x.012 . Machine times the same. I know this isnt the vendors doing but do you get what im saying?
