Same here!! James' famous video on here convinced me to "convert" from guitar to ukulele once and for all. Can't wait to be able to actually play the piece!
A couple years ago, I had watched for the first time a video (by markwitz) titled, "James Hill, "Billie Jean" With His Imaginary Band," where you played this in front of an audience, and this spiked my interest for the ukulele. I have watched all of your videos and your tutorials have brought me to such a point that I can't put my uke down! Thank you for being such an inspiration to my life and all the other ukuleleists out there. As said by Jake Shimabukuro, "If everyone played the ukulele, the world would be a better place!" Can't wait for part two!!
Thanks to everyone who tuned in for the live premiere of Part 1! I thought we could stick around and chat after the video but I guess it closes the chat once the video is finished? At any rate, we can do it all again tomorrow for Part 2. Things really heat up in Part 2 so buckle up and I'll see you there! Here's the link to join the premiere and chat: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cQoptPogkeE.html
You are such an inspiration for me that I've started following your hairstyle 😁... Love your chord melody tutorials hundred times. Just waiting for you to prepare a tutorial on Hotel California... Fingers crossed for tomorrow
James Hill - just checked out Ukulelex.com. It’s something to strive for after I complete my lessons in Uketropolis (which I’m enjoying so much). Thank you for your teachings and your acknowledgment that passing on your skills makes for a better community !
THANK YOU JAMES HILL! Whenever someone seems amused by a uke as an instrument I show them a video of James Hill playing Billie Jean. Shuts them up every time.
Thank you in advance for your generosity in sharing this gem with us! Seeing you do this live at Sawchyn Guitars really blew me away and opened my eyes to new uke possibilities.
Have seen others doing this tutorial, but hey FINALLY THE ORIGINAL!! This is the HOLY GRAIL!! It's not easy but I am determined to learn this. Thank you so much James!!
hello james!!! I don't know if you'll read this but aside from u being generous enough in making this tutorial, just wanna say you're also a pretty awesome teacher!!! i'm currently learning this and am blown away by how you explain things easily. please do continue inspiring us, much love from the Philippines! 💗🇵🇭
when I watched your first video on Billie Jean, I instantly felt this urge to get a ukulele. So the next day I ordered one and iv'e been playing it ever since, thanks for the inspiration James.
Loooooooooooong over due! I started playing the ukulele (my very first instrument ever) when I first saw him play his version of Billy Jean 3 years ago. Now I’m playing the guitar lol but thank you James Hill. You’re the reason I’m playing now :)
Good point about playing the bass line only on the C string. I have a low G and was just planning on learning it that way, but I'll definitely learn this way too so that I can do it regardless of the G string.
How can this happen..I'm shocked.Because I saw your video years ago but last year I bought a ukulele and before I was saying I can't play like this but suddenly I said at the beginning of February that "I wish it had a tutorial because I wanna learn so much" and than i saw today to this .Maybe I feel that you will do this tutorial.I don't know but this is a real miracle for me.Also the like button was 999 before I touched and I became 1000th.I also believe that the number 1 meaning about is created with thought.this is a big miracle for me.I hope you can find like that what are looking for in your life.Thank you 1000 times and I hope that you keep making these tutorials 😊💖🎼🎸🌈🍀🌞
Having had the pleasure of meeting you and mixing you; your performance stuck in my mind for years and has led me to this video today. Haven’t spent a good while practising, I have even further respect and enjoyment of your show! I do indeed believe!
So disappointed I missed this...darn it.....so excited to play and see if I can follow along! Thanks James...you have made one Truro girl very happy :-)
At this point, I think we have all heard you do Billie Jean so many times that while we absolutely love it - literally every time... we are DYING for you to do something new. By new, I mean... I'd give the world to see you do "Devil Went Down To Georgia" by Charlie Daniels!! If anyone can do it all on one ukulele without accompanying instruments, it's you!! AND, you know we're going to want a tutorial too so just go ahead and do that as well. LOL! I'm paying for your online lessons right now and probably will be for a while since my hope and dream is to get the teacher certification as well so consider this my paid subscription request. LOL! No joke.
I saw your Amazing Ukulele Drum beat video and I'm truly amazed. Somehow found your official channel after 1,2 minutes search. Haha. But you're amazing guy. Love from Nepal 🇳🇵❤️
OK - So this song is going to take a lot of time to learn. I haven't even tried to play chords this far up the fret board before (a 3 1/2 years playing intermediate player). When I said I wanted to challenge myself - yep - it's a challenge. All I'm going to do till I've mastered it is those three chord changes in the riff. I can do this. Go away arthritis stiffness.
That's amazing how you can do that! I'm so glad you are teaching us. I've got the chords and drum beat at the same time but still gotta get the bassline. One thing I noticed though in your other videos is on the C note you dont have your finger on the 2nd fret. What do you do to still make it sound the same? I have small hands so if it's an easier pattern that would be greatly appreciated!
A long time ukulele myth is finally revealed! I eager for the tutorial since I watched the video eight years ago! So amazing and magic! Could I share tutorial part 1, part 2, and UkuleleX on my blog in Taiwan?
First at all, thank you for sharing. Much appreciated. I was mystified when I first saw you play it. :) Second, if I might ask, what is the brand and model of Ukulele that you are playing with on this tutorial? Third, what advice you provide to someone that is going from a regular ukulele to an acoustic ukulele like the one you're using? Thank you for your time.
Hello! Thanks for the video and sorry for the stupid question) why are we playing the chords like this? I thought Am7 is a chord where you Don’t touch anything? Or is this just another way to play the chord?
