That's the BILLIE we know... always giving force to the spirits to keep breathing which is not easy in this days. Babylon is waiting for 'u and yours again! and the best crowd of the world also! Argentina! 'Funk' not dead hah
Dear friends.. While we’ve all been in quarantine I’ve been reflecting on the things that matter the most in my life. Family, friends and of course music. I recorded a cover of Tommy James and the shondells “I think we’re alone now” in my bedroom. I figure if we have to spend this time in isolation at least we can be alone together. Love BJ
The extremely quiet choruses contrasted with the lively and sort of chaotic rock nature of the song in general makes this cover really amazing. Every time I hear this rendition, I anticipate the choruses.
“Recorded in my bedroom”. I tell you what Billie.. Man, I love you! I wish I could record music in my bedroom like you do! Awesome cover. Think I’m gonna go and record a green day cover on Instagram now 😂
I record music in my room as well. To emualte the low budget and crude nature of the recording, I usually mike the amps and do some of the instruments in one take. Several of the covers I put on the Oren Kage RU-vid channel.
1966: Tommy James and the Shondells 1978: Lene Lovich 1987: Tiffany 1989: Snuff 2006: Girls Aloud 2008: The Birthday Massacre 2020: Billie Joe Armstrong
First this song was in the umbrella academy, a show based off a comic written by Gerard Way (most well known as the singer of My Chemical Romance), and now billie joe covers it. This song is now blessed
Dear Mr. Armstrong. I have been having a real tough time with the quarantine but your music is really helping. I appreciate you everyday. Thanks for making the best music.
It’s funny you say that, I got turned on to Green Day at 3 yrs. My sister is a big fan of Green Day and she bought the American Idiot CD 12 yrs ago. I can vividly remember that when she wasn’t there, I would use the CD to play the songs from the album even though I had no idea who they were at the time lol.
Do you know how much we all love you? This made my day! You are NEVER alone! Green Day songs are always playing...how can we ever be alone when we have you guys! You are a gift to this planet!
When I was about 10, in 1978, I started to really get into music. Someone gave me one of those suitcase turntables and my Dad gave me his box of 45s from the 60s. Beatles, Grass Roots, The Who, The Association...the list goes on and on. Tommy James and the Shondells was also in there - this was one of my favorite songs in that box. Thanks for bringing back some sweet memories for me today 😊
I've had this looping for over half an hour and I'm not sick of it yet. I love those background vocals during the last couple choruses-that's the cherry on top of this already full, pleasing mix.
I think everyone in Green Day has remained down to earth over the years. Unlike so many others who are negatively effected by fame & wealth. It can't be easy to not let it go to your head in some way. Maybe that's why when it does happen its so appreciated . And its Green Day with the hatrick for being & staying down to earth.😀💚
@@pawle2336 I mean any filters or effects for his voice would be done during mixing and I'm more than 10000% sure Billie is able to do that in his laptop at home as easily as they do at their studio with one or two plugins lol.
Hey Billie, since we are all at home in quarantine, why don’t you release the original cigarettes and valentines songs to give us something awesome to listen to?
I mean, most of them have been released as B side songs to American Idiot's singles, a few songs on Tre, and a couple other songs have basically just been updated versions. I'm pretty sure almost all of them have been released, so that'd just be a "new" album with old music...
Caesar ino yes, that’s true but I want to hear the original recording, with the original “sound” of the record. Not an “American idiot” or “the network” or “tre” sounding c&v song
When we get back to a world that is even sort of normal after the covid plague and I think back to 2020 this song will be playing in my head. Thankyou GD for the joy and love you have brought to so many over so many years. All the best from us in Australia
Children behave, that's what they say when we're together And watch how you play They don't understand And so we're Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me And we tumble to the ground and then you say I think we're alone now, There doesn't seem to be anyone around I think we're alone now, The beating of our hearts is the only sound Look at the way we gotta hide what we're doin' 'Cause what would they say If they ever knew And so we're Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me And we tumble to the ground and then you say I think we're alone now, There doesn't seem to be anyone around I think we're alone now, The beating of our hearts is the only sound I think we're alone now, There doesn't seem to be anyone around I think we're alone now, The beating of our hearts is the only sound I think we're alone now, The beating of our hearts is the only sound I think we're alone now, There doesn't seem to be anyone around I think we're alone now, The beating of our hearts is the only sound I think we're alone now, There doesn't seem to be anyone around I think we're alone now, The beating of our hearts is the only sound
It's weird how we all feel more united now rhat everyone's stuck at home. I guess you really knew something when you wrote "The say home is where your heart is, but that's a shame, cause everyone's heart doesn't beat the same"
Isn’t that quote more about rejecting the notion of home is where your heart is, it would probably make more sense if you quoted it correctly with “it says “home is where your heart is” but what a shame, ‘cause everyone’s heart doesn’t beat the same” which is more about teenage angst of isolation rather than about coming togetger
@@drageoksllechtim2078 Yeah, but right now when everyone is home it feels like everyone's heart beats the same. Noone's beating out of time right now. I've always seen this lyric as stating an issue (the one you mentioned) that needs to be fixed. And right now with everything unfortunate that's been going on it feels fixed for now. I could definitely be seeing it wrong tho
VegaRoseForever I personally think The Beatles are so overrated. Their music definitely doesn’t do anything for me. Green Day are such talented band and they are so underrated. Their music is timeless. Green Day has been around since the 1980s and still having hits in 2020. The Beatles were only around for ten years
@@aussiemusicfan0298 yeah and has anyone forgotten them?? And look at all they did in 10 years??!!! It was enough to last not only a generation but span a lifetime over. It's your opinion and you are more than entitled to it as am I. I was merely agreeing with you that Green Day will not be forgotten and they do rank up there with the Beatles for me. Yes, Green Day is very underrated and they deserve more than they get but unfortunately, this is not the way. People just don't appreciate art like this because they automatically see titles like Dookie and labels like punk or grunge and will simply dismiss music that would more than likely change their life for the better but everyone is listening to 6'9 or whatever his name is.
I feel like if that happens we’re gonna get another Green Day album. Billie is gonna feel too bad and is gonna make it happen if this whole thing gets postponed.
@Megan Rose I think so yeah. I mean it makes sense that you don't like a certain style. And it's totally normal for people to be disappointed when it's not what they expected to get. But just because it's not the old gd style doesn't mean that it's not good. Bands evolve and so does their music. We should all accept that and like their music for what it is. But of course you cant force people to like it.
Aside from Billie Joe gifting us good music to help us get through pandemic, he also gifted us these precious and blessed 90s Green Day pictures. They're all so cute
Ok I just started tearing up listening to this, it’s been 22 years since my mom introduced me to Green Day. My mom loved this song so hearing you play it made my heart break... my mom died of cancer last year, so thank you for this.
I've had tickets since the pre-sale last summer and hoping like hell the tour and EVERYTHING is back to normal by then !!!!!!! Top of my bucket list !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will always remember where I was when I first heard this song. Standing by the window of the small store I work at as this played on the radio. It was early morning and the sun had just came up, there was no one around and it was the most at peace I had been in a long time. I'll always love this song.

True, it is Billy Joel's bedroom. However, keep in mind that Billie Eilish recorded all but two songs from her debut album on her brother's computer at their family home.
The environment has literally nothing to do with how well a song sounds. It's all about the knowledge, skill and resources available. I mean, even if an artist were to spend a fuckload of money recording in a professional studio, it doesnt guarantee it's gonna win a bunch of Grammy's, right?
@@AblissMusic yas correct, i meant its billie joe doing what he loves with that level of gear in his bedroom is what makes this cover amazing, perfect combination
All the moments from their past albums, Green Day and Billie Joe Armstrong could never the memories, they had together for them to performed many songs live on stage for the audience like us to hear their music. Thank you, Billie Joe to performed this song for all of us who are staying home from not getting or sick from the corona-virus. We'll be alright! : )
When i feel so down...like on my knees I put on green day and they always makes me feel that I'm not alone...that's the irony... I love you Billie, Mike , Tre....
Damn Billie Joe has some serious recording and mixing skills! Dude, thank you so much for recording this. It's a bright ray of punk rock sunshine in these strange times 💚💚💚 P.S. it sounds great on my HS8's 🎶
