I worked at a company that did that. They told all their employees to have side hustles. We already worked a minimum of 45 hours per week. People have families to go home to. Meanwhile the CEO was building the largest house in the state.

Oh the corporations doing charities makes perfect sense. It's all about interest and taxes. Most of the time the fine print on the donations say they will hold the money for X time before donating that, and they can invest the money until it's time to donate it and keep the interest the investments make. They also get a tax write off on the money they collected and then donate to a charity. They also get some good publicity by helping charity.
Charity donations isn't strange. It's just corporations having their own charities they either support or personally manage and asking if you as a customer would be willing to donate DIRECTLY to the charity. Some are suspect in how they are managed. Although some like the Ronald McDonald or even Walmart Foundation is actually pretty damn neat. If a corporation asking for a donation for charity is weird then isn't ANYONE managing or supporting a charity equally strange? By that logic just fuck charity amirite? The GoFundMe is fucking weird because these mofos have enough money to meet that goal alone without breaking the bank. They just don't want to. And are calling on people they actively make fun of for being less financially savvy to entirely fund the whole thing. They didn't put a dime in.

Man I totally feel you. I had my work tools stolen out of my car and I was in a bad spot and felt like a scumbag making a gofundme. But to my surprise I exceeded my goal and was able to replace my tools and I was so thankful. My other buddy who is in a wheelchair because of MD made. Gofundme for a van with a lift and posted it to a wheelchair fb group he was a a part of of it also exceeded the amount and now he has a bad ass van that has made him much more independent. My point is I think the mere fact you feel bad shows you are a scumbag and I would recommend you give it a shot. One other thing I’d suggest is posting the link in any communities you are part of that’s a little more specific. There are a lot of good people out there that want to help others and are able to help others. I hope you get what you need good luck.
