Remember a Billy Bragg concert back in the day, when there was a busker on the street around the corner, doing BB-numbers. At the end he emptied his guitar case into a homeless person's hat - and walked on stage. Brilliant warm-up! Thank you, Billy! 😃
Why are so many angry people commenting? You go looking for Billy Bragg clips to get yourself riled up? It’s nice how after all these years he can still get you all upset and acting like snowflakes.
During the 2005 general election campaign in the Bethnal Green and Bow constituency, Bragg endorsed Oona King, the Labour Party's pro-Iraq War candidate, over George Galloway, the left-wing socialist anti-war candidate This is your left wing hero lol
In 1985 i was an unemployed mad merseyside lad aged 19. I hitched to London n got building site day work. Homeless at times, good craic though. I heard Billy Bragg at a gig , i knew id be ok in the long run. He warmed Milton Keynes Bowl up in 85, for REM n U2. He was better.
I first heard this song at twenty in 19 teen something on a college radio station and was blown away.Billy Bragg has a rare spot in my heart for his ability to make me feel what he felt .Love you,Billy.
I sat next to him at a Noel Fielding show a few years ago, I said 'alright Bill' and he said 'alright mate'. Seemed like a nice bloke wanting to watch the show.
Obviously there are people here who have knowledge that I don't. I just remember the days of Red Wedge and Billy always turning up to support the workers... maybe I am very wrong, but just like I still support Mark Steel, I like Billy
I saw Billy in NYC around 83,84ish...it was a long time ago. I was 20. My girlfriend convinced me to go see him, she couldn't make it so I went on my own. Anyway, it was a long, thin club with a tiny stage, with a small balcony, if I remember correctly. It was standing room only on this small balcony and I witnessed a real talent, one guy , full of energy, a guitar and fantastic song writing. It was packed and the atmosphere was electric. What a night. Thanks Billy.
Never paid that much attention to Bragg's discography, although I am familiar with the odd tune and his work with Wilco. But if he's upsetting this many easily annoyed right-wingers then he's probably right up my street. I'll stream his stuff and support him any way I can. Thanks for bringing him to my attention, snowflakes. x
What's right wing about being against multi-billion dollar corporations forcing vaccines on people who don't want them? How is that right wing? Please explain
@@michaelbarry1651 but they're literally wrong on almost everything. Almost all claims made by right wingers are the opposite of what any thoroughly vetted, credible evidence would suggest
Open door politics and working men are racist? He’s a virtue signaller. How is life in ‘all white’ Devon Billy? To his low iq followers i will just say baaaaaa!
Love the way the guitars set up..nice ,loud raw chords, like he's rehearsing in the garage, volume full bollox, an ' his ol' man shoutin' "Billy!!! Turn it Fakkin daaarn!!"🤣👏👏
I'm with you, Jojo! I love any artist who can go out there on a stage with nothing but an electric guitar and a voice, and make it work. No bass, no drums, no keyboards, no trio of backup singers. It's a beautiful thing. Billy and I probably don't see eye-to-eye politically, but that doesn't prevent me from appreciating his artistry.
I think some people here need to crawl back under their stone. If you don't like Billy Bragg what are you doing here? Nice one Bill. R I P Kirsty, your music and spirit live on.
Stevie ward "If you don't like Billy Bragg what are you doing here?", you squeak. People are entitled to their opinion, regardless of its nature and whether it pleases you or not. And many are of the opinion that "Bill" (as you so intimately call him) is a wonderfully hypocritical millionaire...
"If you don't like Billy Bragg what are you doing here?" To campaign against someone who supports socialist ideology that has murdered 100 million people and to expose this fraud who lives in a 2 million pound mansion That's why we're here. Got it?
One of Britain's greatest songwriters (check out the Must I Paint you a Picture double cd if in any doubt). We live in a country that championed free speech and long may this continue.
Objective Truth? You mean like trying to find a new chick? Maybe he’s actually gay….. ‘Reimagined Truth’ is soooooo damn subjective, Maybe he’s lopped off the old zucchini
:Folks I'm from |Ireland and I just really liked the song. And then I saw the comments. You're country is circling the drain ,and you all need to find some common ground quick!!!!!
Aye, sadly I tried to get an Irish passport but it was my Great Grandad rather than my Granpa so I couldn't get it :D They are all scousers on that side of the family, let us back in ;)
@@pogo1957 most of these commenters are being paid to stir up culture war bullshit...it's the new battlefront to distract us from the real issues and it's all the current devoid-of-any-talent Tory party have in their locker...most people will have met no more than 1 or 2 Trans people in their lives yet they'll prioritise the issue over all others at the next election if stirred up enough...worked for Brexit, might well work again...this country is so fucked.
Billy Bragg is far from being a nobody, though he might wear such a comment as a badge of honour since he has always stood up for the supposed nobodies.
Oh, there's so much salt in this set of comments. You have to wonder what Billy Bragg has done to them. Hilariously dumb. And if his songs are still getting up their arses now, what - 40 years on? - he must be doing something right.
@@dellafenton2417 I'm sure there's been a call out on some godawful mumsnet for fascists site somewhere. Still, if they're here spooging out their ignorance of what socialism means, they're not breaking the court orders keeping them away from the infant school fence.
Here by accident…. Was an early fan. Truth, Reality, maturity and oh yeah my faith removed me from your dodgy ever-angry clueless sullen presence. Tons of us….not sorry we grew up
Latest A Million Things album shows the guy can still write excellent music. He will always divide opinion however his finest compositions for me are the non-political ballads.
One of the few true socialists who understand the Scottish left wing who do not see Blair, or Starmer as a friend but simply as a tory with a red ribbon attached.
During the 2005 general election campaign in the Bethnal Green and Bow constituency, Bragg endorsed Oona King, the Labour Party's pro-Iraq War candidate, over George Galloway, the left-wing socialist anti-war candidate Absolutely deluded...hahahahahaahahahahahagaah dear me you people get more dense every year.
Most splendid. Would that he and his like would stand as our representatives and surround themselves with the talent needed to do the buts they can't. A new England.
