Billy is and has always been a singer for the people. He will go down in history as one of the best British songwriters.

Billy Bragg is well known for his political nature, which runs through a lot of his songs. Here's a song called "Unisex Chip Shop" which is actually a creation of musical comedian Bill Bailey "in the Billy Bragg style" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W1_uEbGJtnY.html ...in which Billy Bragg actually appears behind him, and sings the final line.

I saw 2 shooting stars last night, I wished on them, but they were only satellites - it’s wrong to wish on space hardware. ❤

"Between the Wars" by Billy Bragg is another good song n probably the one he's most known for, he's a Great singer songwriter and a great social commentator about Britain and the politics of the County and History good n bad but he'll probably be best known for his Anti-Margaret Thatcher stance during the 80s but also writes evocative pieces on Growing up in England and the death of his father etc...

Billy wrote this song despite claims Kirsty McColl did. Now listen to the Kirsty McColl version - which became a hit. I’ve seen Billy live twice and met him long enough to say hi and get a reply. He was playing a tiny club in London which no longer exists. He was showcasing “Mermaid Avenue” an album of Woody Guthrie lyrics put to music by Billy. Natalie Merchant collaborated on two of the songs, "Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key" and “Birds and Ships”.

I saw Billy in the start of his carrier. We went to england (boat from Sweden to England) when we were teens (barely) and went to punk conserts. I will never forget when Billy came on the BIG stage with just a guitar and played "From the rear side window of a vauxhall velox" and you did not feel that you needed any more instruments! Just him with a strong voice and his hard playing on the guitar. Fantastic! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S8JSBk76_ik.html

"There is Power in a Union" - I feel like you'll really like the guitar on that track, maybe. "Which Side are you on", "Waiting For the Great Leap Forward" and "Help Save the Youth of America". Just some songs you might like. I enjoyed this react video. Thank you.

Try Waiting for the Great Leap Forward or St. Swithin’s Day, 2 of Billy’s best.

I think you might like some of Tom Robinson's work (as The Tom Robinson Band) , and possibly some of the output of XTC and Squeeze. Very much the same late 70s early 80s non electronica vibe, but less pared down to something that was Bragg's signature 'post-punk skiffle' material. (That reads like I don't like him or his work - I think he's a sound chap, and a fine musician)

Welcome to Folk-Punk. His work has stretched quite a bit over the years and jumps between singler songwriter stuff like to more punk-eque work, to political messaged material and even soul. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3W0N8THBoCQ.html
