I reconize as a top musician to Billy cobham and Gary Husband, but a great surprise this guitar man Dean Brown, it is the first time I ever hear too much feeling
I think the audience is having a whale of a time, just not in an irritatingly Merkin way.🤭 If I have to be in a crowd I want it to be relaxed enough not to feel the need to fill every damn second with moronic whoops, hoots, shouts, shrieks, screams, and cries of "YEAH!" That kind of forced response is bad manners and it ruins the experience for everybody else. Clap the solos by all means, and cheer at the end if the band leaves a gap between numbers. That's how adults behave, and this is music for grown-ups, not toddlers. I want to hear the band, not a bunch of self-important a-holes who can't shut the duck up and listen. I'm a Brit, though, so maybe that makes me too grumpy and weird to be taken seriously...😁
MR.BC is the tecknision of the drum kit, precicse in what happens at all phases of any piece he dose,at any time,u never know where he's going to go,the more interesting he is ...to listen to what he's saying on his drums, and to grasp his personality through the many years he has been playing.a very interesting musician to listen to,especially if your into percusion.
Me too! As much as I love Tony Williams...it's Billy's funky personality when playing straight jazz to free improvisational acoustic jazz. On top of the epic legendary Jazz/Fusion wich he was known for and one of the original pioneers... 🤦♂️ I'm preaching to the choir! 🤣😂🤦♂️ LMFAO! As if you didn't know🤔🤔🤦♂️ DUH!!!🤪
This is maybe the best live footage of Billy that I have ever seen. Ended up watching the whole darn thing. I think the band is more energized and tight that even the Culture Mix band from 04 with Per Gade and Stefan Rademacher. Dean Brown has improved much since the Glass Menagerie days too. Gary Husband is very underrated, love him on Focused. Everyone is top notch! Great and thanks for posting.
Holy shit!!! what a great show! thanks so much for the upload....what a band!! Dean Brown is a vastly underrated axe man!! Why isn't this stuff ever on American television????
all of billy's drumming score reads like a spiritually based algorithm..... most apparent on his early work with the mahavishnu orchestra especially the dance of maya.... here on this concert its universally transcendent... thanks for posting...!!!
His drumming is and always has been brilliant. Not sure about his greatness as a man, though. When I met him in between sets one night he came off as being a little bit cold and kind of edgy to me. Maybe he's always been that way, I don't know. He did spend some time around Miles Davis in his younger days. So maybe some of Miles' edginess rubbed off on him.
Anyone else capable of playing with four sticks and a double kick all at once? Billy's awesome! Love the duct tape snare damper too! Or, perhaps that was his grocery shopping list that he was filling out as he played? Ha!
BC is such a great bandleader and (of course) drum god. The band makes a whole lot of the music. Of course they are phenomenal players but they sound well rehearsed.
Beautifully recorded concert, Billy is a former grad from my High School. Husband is always awesome, too much Dean Brown though, he needed to be muffled.
I was delivering the technique and making the sound at this concert. Look for Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa there will be another whole concerts recorded for Mezzo / Arte Web
Heard in a Cobham interview that he tried to put together an American band, but the only individual who showed up on time, with a good attitude and having done his homework with the music, was Dean Parks. It's sad that even seasoned musicians do that nowadays, specially when offered interesting musical opportunities. By the way, this band cooks! ... but you should know if you're watching this now.
Do only I hear the similarity to Simon Phillips? I think Simon must have taken an influence from Billy. Fantastic both drummers and regards to Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski who's voice can be heard at the end.
Wow, what a concert!! Billy my favorit Drummer!! One a the best concerts ever. What a Band! Does someone have the set List?? It would be great, if i could get it!! Thanks guys!!!
Glatter Wahnsinn!! - eh da gab es doch eine Band aus Duisburg..........! Die war Glatter Wahnsinn, nannte sich so und spielte songs von Billy Cobham!""!!"!
