Billy begins this second leg of his journey in St Louis, Missouri, by climbing the Gateway Arch - which signifies the start of the American West. He visits a wolf sanctuary, takes in a Civil War re-enactment, tries his hand at hunting wild turkeys and makes himself comfortable in the world's largest rocking chair. His final stop is in Oklahoma City, where he visits a memorial to the 168 victims of the bombing of the Alfred P Murrah Federal Building in 1995.

Billy engages so effortlessly and sincerely with those that interest him and conversely, although polite, has no time to waste on the ignorant. He’s a good judge of character.

Please post Episode 4!! I am in the US, and I don't have access to the DVDs. I've seen the first 3 episodes, but I was left hanging in Arizona. Please, make things right with the world - I need closure!! My poor heart needs to see Billy in Los Angeles!!

I have really enjoyed this series. Billy brings a slightly different perspective than many of the videos produce. I visited the OKC monument. It was very moving. I didn't realize it was lit at night. I will have to return! My favorite stop was the St Louis arch. The last time I visited, i went up and stayed long enough to see the sunset. It was really quite something.

That gateway arch always makes me think of McDonald's, or at least McDo!

I remember being 19/20, driving solo down Route 66 from mormon college in Idaho back home to Louisiana. It was summer thru AZ/NM, I had a road atlas and a CB radio but no air conditioning and no idea what i was doing. I got free meals from truckers and made 'friends' all across the country, having no idea about ulterior motives. When somebody asked me my handle on the CB, i spontaneously blurted out "You can just call me 'sugarbritches'" in my thickest Southern drawl (with no idea what that name would've signified to the hairy truckers). Not sure how i never ended up in a ditch, honestly. But it was good times. :)

I'm guessing you contributed quite well to the PTSD resthome for burnt out guardian angels 🤣 my Gods, I'm no trucker, but 'sugarbritches'? you may as well have worn a sign reading 'come get it here!' :P Good thing you survived it though :) That sounds like the experience of a lifetime, wandering all about the place.

@@Locahaskatexu Probably a mixture of daddy issues and Mormon upbringing, but I always had a particular fondness for older males--like i expected them all to be wise or intelligent or prophets(?) idk. Maybe i'd also seen Cannonball Run too many times as a kid. But my family used CBs when i was a kid, so my naivete concluded that it was 'family-friendly'. Also i had no sense of stranger danger from being trained up to be docile/subservient... I was many a trucker's fap-to, in hindsight. I genuinely just wanted to talk to 'cool old people' tho. My last night on the road on my second cross-country run, I actually had a legitimate scare in New Mexico that taught me to reign it in. (a little). :)

We all had fun when we were younger. You over there along Route 66, and me over here in dodgy seedy places in London, to going to thousands of rock concerts all over the UK. The Glastonbury Festival just finished near me a week ago, and I live between that and Stonehenge. And now my g/f lives out near Route 66! It's a small world! Keep on rocking!

I've been to St.Louis and absolutely loved it !. The people were warm and welcoming and their pubs (I'm Scottish - pubs are my DNA !) are superb - I even managed to get a pint of favourite Tennents Lager, it's brewed 45 miles away from my home in Edinburgh so it was transported some 3/4,000 miles away yet it was 50p CHEAPER.(thanks to the english who have a fondness of consistently voting for tory governments who just love ridiulously taxing beer !) ??!!. Anyone visiting I'd advise a visit to Lacledes Landing, it's a park/green with cobbled ŕoads and horse-drawn carriages and gas-lighting - it's beautiful !. There you'll find a vast array of various cuisines washed down with great music !. Btw - St.Louis is spotless, immaculate - I was there for a week and I dont think I saw litter once !

There is a wolf sanctuary in New Mexico, which I highly recommend for camping. R.R. Martin frequents it. Did not know there was one in Missouri! Road Trip!!!

The fallen head sculpture is by Igor Mitoraj and you should check out his other amazing works. St Louis (not pronounced St Louee) is a great city with many very distinct areas. When I visited from the UK my friends and I did the gateway arch but loved Soulard and the Delmar Loop districts.

Billy has always been the coolest ever. As to the civil war, there really isn't a serious debate. It is almost entirely semantic. Sure you can correctly argue that the war was essentially about the indissolubility of the Union. But you cant ignore the fact that there was only one issue threatening to dissolve the union. One flows into the other like a stream into a river. You can't separate them. I also mildly dispute the contention that Pres. Lincoln "thought it was about slavery". If there was one person in the country with a single-minded focus on preserving the nation, it was Lincoln. He deplored the horrors of slavery. But it wasn't what drove him to prosecute the war.

Son- "Mom, what's a nigg...?" Mom- "Where did you hear that?" Son- "My favorite rapper."

I think what you are saying, "That young child did not hear that from a white antagonist, he heard it from another African -American." That has been my experience. The context is important.

I love Bill and I respect that he's a man of his convictions and he doesn't care much for the things he disagrees with (I agree wholeheartedly with his politics) but I found he was really rude and passive aggressive in this episode. People were nice enough to let him and his cameras into their lives and he mocked them. I dont know how much creative control Billy has over the places he visited but if you're not interested in something dont do it, at least dont be a rude prick, show these people some common courtesy.
