Kurt Angle is a 14-time professional wrestling world champion, with titles collected in WWE, TNA, and Japan. He is in both the WWE and TNA/Impact Hall of Fames, a two-time NCAA Division 1 National Champion, and has also won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Summer Games with, as he likes to say, ‘a broken freaking neck.’ At every stop in his career, Angle has reached the top of the mountain, and now he’s taking his Three I’s; Intensity, Intelligence, and Integrity, to the podcast world as he joins host Paul Bromwell to take a look back at some of the matches, feuds and moments that turned an Olympic gold medalist into one of the greatest sports entertainers of all time. It’s True. It’s damn true

Paul is great at running the creative and deciding what the talent roster will be. But he's not good in any way of running the finances of the company and making sure the talent gets paid on time. If you can someone else run the business side of things for him than it makes a huge difference.

Cleaning up the roster was certainly needed, but i am not sure retaining 1 WWE guy (Angle) is enough. Maybe 3 - 4 big name former WWE or WCW stars to build the company around and help new TNA stars.

If Heyman's plan was to move to a more MMA style, Angle would have been their credibility while they built the brand. With Angle, Samoa Joe, RVD and a handful of really good strong-style guys from Japan, Heyman could have made a gradual transition to a more credible and sensible booking format while the rest of the boys adjusted their move sets or had time to find new companies.

My issue was that TNAs production went poor. Bad lighting and sets. Made the talent seem more generic than what they could show to an audience on TV.

TNA needed to go on the journey it has been with IMPACT! It needed to go back to basics and to be built up again. I think coming back full circle to TNA now is a great move, they have had a really solid few years and the roster is really fucking good! So al the power to them.

I remembered Heyman said in an interview about this story and I quote "if your over 40 I chop your head off" meaning I wanted to focus talent under 40. Who knows if TNA could have been the Level it should have been. But now that have rebranded back to its original name so it's going to see how things are going to turn out. TNA was fucking trash from 2005-2010 and was only good and entertaining from 2010-2012. That said, Heymans ideas were fucking stupid. "Let's hire a bunch of 19 year old Indy darlings and do scripted MMA. Daniel Bryan is going to be TNA's 5'5", 150lb Goldberg tapping everyone out with a fake MMA move until I have an unknown kid best him. Oh and pay me $5 million dollars per year and give me additional stock in the company." He had proven himself absolutely clueless.

Best thing Billy can do is keep NWA his company. Surround himself with people he likes and perform well and then move forward. Decisions and creative needs to flow through one guy or else things will become killed by committee. You need to take the heat but you also get thr credit and cut out the middle managers.

Heyman asked for too much control on purpose, in order to save face. He knew that TNA was already gone at that point. Same with Jerry Jarrett and WCW before the went under.
@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv 9 месяцев назад
100%. He asked for too much control and for a piece of the company to come in because he knew they’d never give it to him. He wasn’t gonna do that unless he got such an extremely good offer that it was worth a hit to his reputation to do it. TNA wouldn’t even give a piece of the company and/or the control he’d have wanted to people like JJ who actually had ownership or Corgan who made a sizable investment into the company. So it goes to figure that Heyman knew that walking in without investing anything, while also wanting equity, control of the company and whatever other demands he asked for was never possible. So he put himself in a win-win position. Either he’d be able to save face like he has knowing that what he wanted he’d never get OR if he actually did get those things then it would’ve been worth the risk. And even if it did flop there would’ve been a plethora of excuses about why it failed anyways as we saw out of him with ECW. The man wasn’t good at business in the sense of profit and loss but he is masterful at selling his role and how he could’ve done everything under the moon if only he’d been given the actual opportunity.

He was trying to get rid of the hogan's etc and the best way of doing that would have been going back to who tna used to be which was the best of the indies. Trouble is because of the "dusty booking" of the vince russo era especially they had to take it back to basics. which thankfully d'more is doing.

@onewarriornation602 9 месяцев назад
So Heyman was trying to "get rid of the Hogans" in 2009 when Dixie listened to his idiotic plan a year BEFORE Hogan was hired? Okay. But yeah, TNA should have stayed a 3rd rate Indy Promotion like AEW full of talentless hacks and WWE castoffs instead of a legitimate #2 promotion with their own homegrown Superstars like under Hogan and Bischoff. We can all give thanks Scott D'Amore "saved" TNA and took it back to running high school gymnasiums and National Guard Armories.
@lewisb85
@lewisb85 9 месяцев назад
@@onewarriornation602 is it still in business? all Hogan and Bischoff did was turn it into a cash drain. And indie promotion what's so bad? the whole point of tna and roh back in the day was to be the showcase of best of the indies, in fact TNA was initially meant to be the national outlet of the NWA hence why it was called NWA TNA when it first started.
@onewarriornation602
@onewarriornation602 9 месяцев назад
@@lewisb85 That's some nice revisionism right there. 1: TNA never turned a profit before Hogan and Bischoff. The Carter's were breaking even most years of not losing money and Jarrett admits he was losing money hence why he sold it. It was so bad that Spike TV was paying for over half the talent on the roster. 2: They started to turn the corner and turn profit during Hogan and Bischoffs reign. TNA Execs have openly admitted this. 3: It was never at any point the goal of TNA to be "the king of the Indys." It was created to be and openly bragged their goal was to take WCW's place and compete with the WWE. Panda Energy didn't spend millions of dollars to acquire TNA and Spike TV didn't dump millions of dollars into TNA for it to be a low rent Indy promotion full of talentless gymnasts.
