Women don’t actually take off their hats in church. Theres scripture about them having their heads covered during worship. As a catholic growing up I always remember taking my hat off the second I stepped inside while my aunt always wore bonnets
It's a BBC show (which is our main national broadcaster) - Netflix bought the show in from the BBC. The first few series were shown on BBC2, and it was promoted to BBC1 for the last couple of series.
*Netflix* didn't buy anything. *Netflix* have nothing to do with the show. *Netflix* licence aka rent the show, so that they can distribute it outside of the UK. *American companies* splashing their logos over *British shows* they have nothing to do with, does not make it their show. *American companies* making trailers for *British shows* they have nothing to do with, does not make it their show. I've seen *American companies* like *HBO* and *Netflix* have their unofficial trailers taken down on *RU-vid* multiple times within a day or two, yet I'm someone who barely watch their channels. But by that time it's too late anyway, as they've been reposted countless times. Why were they taken down? Because they didn't get permission from *Sky, Channel 4* or the *BBC* who are the actual owners of most of the *British shows* they distribute. *British companies* need to start suing *American companies* for doing stuff like that, yet they never do. They just let them get away with it.
I think the point you missed is that the horses that weren't killed for food after the war also suffered from PTSD. The "just noise" reference was him reassuring the horse with mutual respect and understanding.
The "sayings" or phrases in this seriers is freaking good. Like the one about the beer turning into piss. Reminds me of my grandpa (retired general) but all those military guys have the strangest and weirdest saying for things.
I just want you to know that there are times in my day when I think about you both and smile because you make me happy just by being yourselves. I’m grateful for you and I appreciate you and I’m really super glad you exist. Furthermore, I am delighted that you have each other and you are such a great team. You guys are 100% relationship goals. (Secretly in my mind, I consider us friends. I know that’s lame, but I don’t care because you make me happy.!)
The saying the Police Chief said at the beginning, “We will take them before last nights beer turns to piss and wakes the devils up”, it literally means: We will arrest them before they wake up to take a piss because they’re hungover from drinking and loitering last night. “The devils” being the guys they’re arresting. I love sayings like this, reminds me of my Grandad, he always has these weird saying that on first listen make no sense but are actually really clever. 😂

Cody mentioned surgical procedures and it made me think: have you guys ever watched “The Knick”? It’s a super underrated series. It deals with turn of the century surgeons!
The body language by everyone in that Kimber scene is amazing and so telling. Tommy gets slightly nervous when proposing working together when before he was in full control. And it's saying a lot that though Tommy usually listens and is calculating, he proposes an out for Grace, seeing the best in her. And how he lets his guard down and hangs his head when she basically towers over him
I know when this was first posted it didn't do super well, and while I doubt its gonna hit house of dragon or avatar numbers, damnit I'm here to support it!
My sweet Reactors. I will send you a box of kisses (or horse dust) if you watch Penny Dreadful. Similar, lush period piece with classic horror story lines. Where do I donate to make it possible?
Ok I've never watched this show and I'm sure it's good and no I'm not watching reactions to it. But there is similar show called Boardwalk empire from HBO that is excellent and almost no one reacts to it for some reason
