Seeing and hearing these behind the scenes type of videos from you from the Biker Build off days takes me down one of the best memory lanes of my teen years. I remember watching all these episodes with my Dad, rest in peace ☦️, and we couldn’t wait to see legends like you and Indian Larry. Loved the shows, loved the bikes, and I’m glad to see you continuing to do masterclass bike work Billy.
Early 2000s early in the week had to get home to watch Biker build off- the bike I seen was on fire. What a great time to be alive. Watched every episode as it came on TV. Thanks, Billy.
Was a legend , Is a legend and always will be a legend. There will only be one Billy Lane and this is who he is. Honest , dedicated and straight up. 100% fan.
Life changing bikes, Life changing people, Life changing builders, Life changing times. U helped put respect in just being a biker at a time when real bikers needed it. You,Indian Larry, Perewits,Jesse,Sugar Bear, and way 2 many more 2 mention brought that into the industry of motorcycles the right way brother. Thank you....
Billy I was about 16 when BBO began and it got me absolutely addicted to custom bikes, you and Indian Larry played a huge part in influencing my own projects. Thanks for sharing this story!
Because of who you are, a very talented, yet humble and appreciative guy that you not only still have a following but are respected today! Can't get enough of your videos, you are the very essence of what made America so great! Hard work, dedication, can do attitude and ability to learn as you grow! Thanks for all those life lessons and inspiration! Be safe!
Man I can't believe that much time has gone by since those shows. I loved watching those. So cool to hear about the adventures. Thanks for sharing all that.
My dad is Donna guidry brother. Mike guidry is dead now. That party is his backyard shop at Mike's house. Mike was my uncle. That video in his shop gives me the goosebumps brother. Thanks. I remember when he built that house. Church Point, Louisiana.
I remember when this show came out and I was probably 10-12 years old. I fell in love with the custom bike stuff and even though we weren’t old enough, we built multiple custom mini bikes in the back yard. So many fun memories and builds, all inspired from guys like billy, Joe Martin, Indian Larry, and Jesse James. You guys inspired a generation of enthusiasts, thank you for being an inspiration and a lifelong memory of my childhood!
Can't wait for the Indian Larry episode. One of my favorite TV episodes of all time. When Larry was asked what's in it for him he responded "True friendship and brotherhood is worth more than any trophy or money in the world."
It was so great watching skilled craftsman build one of a kind masterpiece motorcycles. You and your craftsman inspired me to buy used bikes and experiment with fabrication. Thank you Billy, thank you professional builders that inspire us all !
Billy. Just want to thank you for your work. You impacted me so much as a kid. Watching this when they came out made me a part of who I am today. The love for bikes is heavy in my heart. Thanks again. Stay well my friend.
The Biker Buildoff shows was a Huge shot in the Arm for many bike builders who were not mainstream,,, and it developed a large wave of followers the motorcycle family never experienced,,, Many Kudos to BL, and the Icons who brought this experience to Americana as a whole... Keep doin what you're doing Billy Lane!!! Thanks.... CFL.....
I watched probably every single episode of Biker Build Off, and I had a subscription to The Horse Back Street Choppers magazine and have a bunch of magazines with you in or on the cover or Indian Larry. I loved the chopper scene back in those day.
Your a legend another biker buildoff anyone upcoming would be a privilege to ride next to you ..... I have seen an talked and enjoyed Rick Fairless Strokers Dallas very cool 😎
I remember watching the shows and that episode with my wife and boys.... this really brought me back watching this smoking a cigar...... for that I thank you! This was an awesome behind the scenes.
Hard to believe that’s it’s been 20 years. Just for the record Indian Larry and Billy Lane were my two favorite builders during biker mania. Miss Indian Larry.
They say you never want to meet your idols. Billy ended up being the exception to that. I have always looked up to him, and I found him to be very entertaining. I went into his shop in Melbourne Florida during Bike Week in 2005. I don’t see him, then he walked out, and I thought, “there he is”! He went right to working on an old Indian. He worked on in for about a minute, then he came over, and talked to me for a while. I’d have felt like a jerk asking for a picture or autograph, so I didn’t. He was so kind and fun, and I remember thinking, this guy must talk above everybody. He is so smart. He went through a rough patch later on, and I had read Chop Fiction a couple times, so I reached out to him, and he took the time to hit me back. He’s a one of a kind, and I love his Bushido way of life. He does one thing, and he doesn’t stray from it. I love all American v twin bikes, and guys like him keep it alive. God bless Billy. 🤘🏽
The episode of you vs Larry was my favorite build off episode. I always enjoyed when they showed how stuff was made and I appreciate you still doing that on your channel.
This is why Billy Lane is my favorite builder. Very well grounded, respectful, appreciative and generous to name a few. We’re here with you man. Keep ‘‘em coming
TAKES ONE HELL OF A BROTHER TO TELL THE STORY YOU JUST SHARED 💯 % REAL & RAW 👊🏼👊🏼 IT DON'T MATTER WIN OR LOSE , IT'S HOW YOU HANDLE YOURSELF THAT MAKES YOU A WINNER ☠️ W / R 😎
This was great. Thank you. Back in the mid 90s I was flipping a lot of bikes. When the show came out I gained a lot or unexpected respect from a lot of people for what I was doing. My personal bikes have always been black. I started picking up purple gas tanks at swap meets and throwing them on the flip bikes. Those purple tanks sold those bikes quick! Ha ha ha! Smitty
I can totally relate to what you are saying about the bayou and interstate 10 , in some places you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and you look out into the bayou and whats there ? a little house perched in the middle of the swamp , somebody's living out there !
I really miss those shows. A lot of those folks are gone now, but I really think they changed a lot of lives. I started riding motorcycles in the '70s, working on them professionally in the '80s and teaching folks how to work on them in the '90s. Motorcycles are still the biggest part of my life. Thanks for the great memories (and the behind the scenes look)!
I found out about Indian Larry through B.B.O. I was 7 years old then. I look up to his work today and I love each one of his bikes even now. So, thank you for these insights, videos, and stories, Billy♥️
I was working at Disney's California Adventure in 03 and a guest got off the roller coaster I was working on and he wore a Choppers Inc. shirt and he told me all about you and how awesome your choppers are. When I saw Biker Build Off w/you against Borguet, I was hooked.
so strange to see a guy i look up to talking to guys he looks up to. loving every peek behind the scenes of biker build of dude and have you noticed the chopper thing coming back at a grassroots level yea i blame you Billy Lane your the man
Billy you brought the younger guys into the realm. In 04 I built a 12” over hard tail with a 124” s&s with BDL open primary. I had the Jesse James tank and of coarse I ran Billy’s Whisky bars😎😎
Dude I love the reminiscing of that era! It was the absolute best! It’s also cool that you are humble and speak so highly and respectfully and all the guys that were such a big part of the era also. Keep up the awesome content it’s awesome to watch these trips down memory Lane . No pun intended lol .
Me and all my buddies would get together to watch the great biker Build-Off. I wish the craze would come back. Everything comes in cycles... Pun intended
Ms behaven Jesse's first CFL Church of choppers S&S 3 baddest bikes ever built imo that suck ms behaven got wrecked! These shows inspired me to build a few of my own choppers. What a great times those were!
Thanks Billy. You brought back so many great memories of watching BBO, and learning about so many great creatives. Much Respect. BTW, dig the way you filmed your interview with Dave. Very lo-fi but intimate also.
Much appreciation about the stories and I wish I could of met Larry. You and Jesse got a chance to show the world what a amazing craftsman he was Thank you
You are a tremendous inspiration Billy! Down to earth, humble human spirit! We have been following you through TV and magazines since the early 2000's. I brought my youngest boy to the Javits center in NYC where we met you and so many talented builders. I still have the autographed Choppers Inc. T- shirt! Thanks for all you do. Ride on Brother!
I watched All of the Biker Build off shows from the first to the last one. You guys ( all builders ) included do incredible work. I am amazed by the workmanship and the beautiful paint jobs. I am into paint and chrome, and you guys never let me down. I loved watching you (Dave) lay out the flames on your tank. I don't know how you do it so well but they looked Fantastic. Billy,I don't want to leave you out. I am a big fan of you also.
Watched every biker buildoff. Been a huge fan of yours since the beginning. Was lucky enough to meet you at smokeout 20 and get a pic with you. Thank u for the great builds , inspiration and always being 100% .
Thank you so much for this content Billy…..I’ve shut this video off 3 different times cause I don’t wanna watch it all in one sitting. This era and Billy are why I build the motorcycles I do today. Billy’s humble enough to never take the credit he truly deserves…..a legendary builder and even a better man.
I was born and raised in Brevard County and came of age in the 80's and 90's. What a blast that area was back then. From Titusville down to Melbourne. So many fun rides and places to party. It sure has changed alot.
Billy thanks for sharing this insight and background information on the show. 20 years but still following your journey! Awesome work and insanely kool builds! I’m hoping to get your help with my chopper. 😎🤙🏽.
Watching you on biker build off as a 10 year old boy changed my life. I was just drawn to you and would watch your episodes on repeat trying to learn from watching you pound out gas tanks or chopping fenders or welding. Because of you I became a fabricator/welder and love what I do. Just wanted to say thank you and that I love these RU-vid videos you put out.
Thanks Billy, I just relived 20 yrs of my life, especially the chopper yrs I was in the business myself, hard-core, , I survived it all still riding the bike I built in 05, and still hanging and banging only slower, we both paid the price for our mistakes, you look good ,in shape and sharp as razor, enjoy your second prime, now you have the experience to go with the knowledge, Stay on track ....your bro C.
Man I seen time's on the first shows, where you looked totally exhausted I guessed because of the time restrictions given to the builders. It was truly a pleasure to watch each episode, and those were truly an awesome time to be introduced into the biker scene.
Been with you 22 years! Always loved and appreciated your work. I hope before I die I can meet you! I have a 98 Harley chopper and think about you every time I work on it. I’m always thinking what you would do. Iv always been poor so it’s been a battle but I do the best with what I got and make it work!
Dave Perewitz is the man. Glad to see him doing good. Bitchin video Billy. You are definitely a man of many talents and mucho knowledge. Pure awesomeness
These videos where you go back and narrate to give more in-depth knowledge on what was going on are dope. Been a fan of Billy and Choppers inc ever since.
Awesome video, I enjoyed the Biker Build off's and watched every episode when they aired. Thanks for the backstory, it's amazing how fast 20 years goes by.
Man, I miss those days! Even though I didn’t design or even own a bike, it was still very influential. Great video Billy. Can’t wait for the Indian Larry one.
I watched these back then as they happened. I can't believe its been 20 years. Time flies so fast it's scary. Don't wait another day, if you're reading this, live your life. Take action. You will blink and half your life will go by. We don't have the time we think we do.
That’s funny how he waited till the VERY end to talk about the seat! Lol! Great videos Billy, brings back some good memories for me riding around LA with my buds around that time. Broke as hell, with our bikes being pretty much unridable and in the shop most of the time!
Hey Billy I met you at Laconia around 2005-6! Have watched many of your vids! Always informative! Especially this one! Hope you keep them coming cause they are great just like you! Keep the rubber side down!- Charlie P.
Thanks for sharing Billy.. bring back the dreads man.. LoL..your builds were always new age style smooth sleek body lines and can go for the long haul..💪🏼
