I was at MerleFest in the mid nineties. Went every year back then. I was walking across a field going from stage to stage. I came across John Hartford in the middle of a field pickin' and singing with someone I didn't know. Never made to the place I was going, who's leaving a private performance from a legend? A crowd eventually gathered, but my friend and I probably got a private show for 20 minutes. One of my favorite festival memories!
