I absolutely love how they switch up and or add to the songs or change the tempo and seem to never play a song exactly the same. They just keep getting better and better I didn't think it was possible but they do it every show.🔥
@@imACIlD Listen to Tony Rice, David Grisman, Bela Fleck, etc... they are the originators of this style. Dead are kinda different compared to this sound
Bill Monroe ,Lester Flatt ,Earl Scruggs ,and Ralph Stanley would love this identical sound they created mostly minus the Carter Family dating back many years ago ! Hey Marty Stuart ,my friend ,I can see Bluegrass is ALIVE & WELL! Take a well deserved break opening that awesome museum in Philadelphia !
This kid is the very best electric acoustic player I've ever witnessed ! When you stack up to Doobie Brothers roots acoustic guitar music ,you've made a very serious impact ! Somebody mentioned Travis Tritt and I had to say Hell No ! Travis does have that 100 Million Dollar Voice as I've seen him live 15 Times
I mean this guy is the next up..as much as I think he knows that, it’ll take others time to notice, which is fine by me - and us all - right? It’s all about just spreading good music and vibes to one another 🙂There’s enough we deal with on a day to day basis that contextually really means nothing at the end of the day. We do our best, and that’s all we can do, and is more than most can say.
I'm a first-timer from farmfest . The clock on the walls catching up with me so I don't get out much. But seeing Billy strings just brings back a whole bunch of memories great times great music love you thanks a lot blessed be
I was recently turned on to Billy's playing, and Ive got to say, I don't mind not hearing him in terms of genre, or anything else, he's just a damn good player, straight up, whatever the flavour :) p.s. and a foot note, highly psychedelic grooves ensue......
I ain't slept in seven days, haven't ate in three Methamphetamine has got a damn good hold of me My tweaker friends have got me to the point of no return I just took the lighter to the bulb and watched it burn This life of sin has got me in Well, it's got me back in prison once again I used my only phone call to contact my daddy I got 20 long years for some dust in a baggie Well, if I would have listened to what mom and papa said I wouldn't be locked up in prison, troubled in the head I took that little pop and suck until my mind was spun I got 20 years to sit and think of what I've done This life of sin has got me in Well, it's got me back in prison once again I used my only phone call to contact my daddy I got 20 long years for some dust in a baggie Sometimes, I sit and wonder where my little life went wrong These old jailhouse blues have got me singing this old song My life is a disaster, Lord and I feel so ashamed In here where they call me by a number, not a name This life of sin has got me in Well, it's got me back in prison once again I used my only phone call to contact my daddy I got 20 long years for some dust in a baggie I used my only phone call to contact my daddy I got 20 long years for some dust in a baggie
Alex Hargreaves From 2007-2014, he toured with Grammy-nominated singer/multi-instrumentalist, Sarah Jarosz, appearing on her three critically acclaimed albums. He's played with Michael Daves, Chris Thile and that whole NYC bluegrass scene also.
Didn’t make it to Bonnaroo this year but Hulu was streaming it live and on one channel I turned it on and Chvches was playing and I went “Eh” but the other channel had Billy Strings playing and I went “These boys making real music!”
I mean...I love Chvrches and wanted to see their finish (missed the first few songs due to Superjam nearby but heard a bit) but glad I saw most of Billy too so... alright I guess
We were lucky to be present on Saturday night at the Ryman. I've been to hundreds of shows over five different decades and I've never seen a..scratch that...experienced anything like that. It was like the whole place had the same vibe. This music touches my heart and my feet. I'm gonna dance on his stage one day.
Most guitars have a sound and tone and tell the guitarist "I sound like this". When Billie picks up a guitar it says "what sound do you want me to make". Seriously, it was so strange listening to that tone come out of that guitar during the solo, it's just not what you'd expect.
And to think Tool had to follow these guys....i wonder if they were a letdown after this set. Thanks for uploading....hope more videos get uploaded. Looked like an awesome set.
I'm sure Tool did juuust fine. Both are great acts capable of melting faces live in their on unique way. But cmon, Tool is the mainstage headliner for a reason.
@@j5imz352 Funny, i'm in an argument with a coupla guys in the comments section of a Tool video... They all concur Tool blew away Billy and the fellas, and are superior in every way. I can't know because i wasn't there, but i think i'd lay my $$$ on Billy......
@@soitgoes82 Try telling that to a coupla Tool fans i'm bickering with under a Tool video from that night. They all concur Tool blew away Billy and the band, and are superior in every way. I can't know because i wasn't there, but i think i'd lay my $ on Billy......
thanks for sharing... thanks for the message... each year in the United States 750,000 men and women loose their freedom and, frequently their ability to vote... for the victimless crimes called the War on Drugs... no victim = no crime we are all the victims of unjust laws just say NO to the insanity Passin the Peace ✌️ Pipe Pass it on Please
@@paullevine1813 , I get it. I grew up in the classic rock era. Still respect it but partial to acoustic guitar probably cause I’m winding down due to my age and also in admiration for Billy’s innovative style and what he’s able to do with the tools he has and making his acoustics sound like an electric. That’s what I’m saying here.
Very good, if I gave some constructive criticism it would be to make Billys solos more coherent. They are pretty good but sometimes dont make the most sense
