This is just about as high and lonesome as it gets. Ralph and Carter are both nodding in approval at this man's respect for traditional music.

I think this group digging into the Grateful Dead catalogue, and Old & In the Way/Grateful Dawg stuff is just the best friggen thing ever!

Carter Stanley wrote this song and the Stanley Brothers had the first hit with it. Many artists have covered this great song.

Billy Strings is appealing to all ages and bringing bluegrass to the front again. His delivery of Carter Stanley's great song only second to the Stanley Brothers.

Excellent job kid! The harmony on the second and third chorus was spot-on. The mandolin break "smoked-it". If these guys stay together they will define bluegrass and who knows what other genre.

If they can stay together long enough, I do really believe these guys will be legendary in bluegrass circles. If they could get Molly Tuttle onboard full time as well...

@@alan4sure I never suggested Molly 'needed' anybody else. Just saying that when she and Billy play together it's one of the best things in bluegrass history. "Lol" 🙄

Great stuff! Saw “old and in the way” in the early 1970’s at the Capital Theater in Passaic, NJ. Vasser Clements was just fabulous as was the entire band. David Grisman practically swallowed that mandolin.
