I interpreted it differently, as a metaphor for being fed up with world's shit and finally snapping into liberating rage, and "big red gun" is just a stand in for "I don't give a damn anymore, fuck off". But now I see that it's about gun control, lol, takes away from the song for me.
@Stranger Punk rock has been a pacifist, war-protesting genre since the beginning. What contradiction could you possibly see here with them protesting against gun violence?
