True. Jean-Claude Van Damme was briefly on set as the Predator until he realized he wasn't going to be able to any Kung Fu or show his face and he quit the film
You can actually visit the original "Predator" set in the jungle. It's about 30 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta deep in the jungle. There are still 2 Huey helicopters in the trees that were used in the filming. You can also visit the river where the climactic final scene was filmed. Very interesting tour.
The Predator movie set is 13 Kilometers south of Puerto Vallarta near a beautiful small town called Mismaloya. You will travel South from Puerto Vallarta to Mismaloya (20 minutes by car). Then you will take a dirt road east into the jungle (about 15 to 20 minute slow drive) to arrive at the movie set. It's worth the effort. As a side note, in 1962 John Huston filmed the famous movie "Night of the Iguana" in Mismaloya.
What crazy is they filmed Night of the Iguana (1964) just south outside the city of puerto Vallarta as well. I remember going there as a kid on a tour, the ruins from the set are still there as well. It’s cool that they leave all of these iconic sets up after all of these decades.
Because I've seen the movie over 2000 times. The scene you showed when Billy looked up, is not the laughing part.. But we could all agree this movie is amazing
I just went back to the scene, it's incredibly quiet, but you can hear a high pitched version of Billy's laugh. There's clips of the scene on here if you don't believe me, but genuinely, I only noticed after someone else pointed it out to me
But they are also trying to show that Billy is a tracker and a great tracker does development a heighten state of awareness. I've known some great trackers in my life and its amazing the things they Notice and see. Feeling the change in the atmosphere of a situation when even the smallest thing happens or another life entertaining their zone.
Supposedly he is the descendant of the girl in PREY. What i want to see is who is the owner of the musket who became prey (and apparently lost) in Predator 2: the "i want my money and time back please" sequel
The part where billy looks up to the trees it's not because he hears the laugh, that part is before the take the guerilla camp and before he laughs so you are wrong
@Idontgiveafkaboutyourfee-lb8tk look at the clip again , when billy drinks from the vine , the narrator says he looks up and sees the pred , go on tell me what he sees after he drinks, nob head.
This isn’t accurate @ 00:32:57:00 this is where this scene takes place. It’s at this point predator is analyzing the laugh of Billy from 00:32:57 to 00:33:07. From 00:33:07 to 00:33:17 there is a silence it’s in this moment Billy gets the eerie feeling something is present not because he hears the predator lowly imitating his laugh.
The Predator design is unbelievably amazing - not just the look, but the ideas.. Mimicking the voices potential targets make truly makes the creature 'alien' in the mysterious use of the feature.. Is it a tool to get attention like a duck call (as it is used at times), or is it primarily a way to study other beings.. The scene when the Predator is looking at the dead scorpion and says 'anytime'... Holy #$@% that is awesome.
I really enjoyed the character Billy’s awareness of his surroundings in the movie. It really showcased a unique quality about his character. A shame he was killed offscreen but I am certain he gave a good fight although short it was a worthy death for a warrior such as himself
In that movie at that point, it's hard to tell if Billy heard his laugh, felt the Predator's presence or was that part all in the mindset of the Predator, like our own thoughts that no one can hear? 🤔
He has an acute sense of smell...The change in wind direction allows Billy to pick up the scent of the Predator... Also in the movie when Poncho was talking with Dutch, they mention his "nose" had him acting squirrely.
Luv all his foreshadowing and ultimate fate of facing it..very nice touch by the filmmakers, as was Mac's descent into insanity and Dillon 's last minute redemption.
There is a scene where after he laughs at Hawkins's joke, Billy walks away ( camera facing his back) and pauses as if hearing something, true. But that doesn't explain the later scene when Billy is standing in the opening, and Dutch has to approach him, Billy's spooked "There's something in those trees Major". We, the audience clearly can see the predator in cloaking form. Billy's rubbing his necklace, Dutch is trying to look but can't see. I thought it wasn't just Billy's six senses, but he's also the unit's scout/recon specialist. And, is clearly shaken because his mind can't comprehend what he's supposed to be seeing, a ghost or something supernatural ( not otherworldly) then there's Dutch , all guns and action, a realist, who's not looking because it's not his area of skill. But I understand what you are saying, he's heard something before, this is the predator's mimic laugh or famous clicking sound, and later on, off-screen the predator must have done it again, prompting the scene, standing and telling Dutch "there is something in those trees". Then, he shakes it off once Dutch confronts him.
What? Of course Dutch would try to look and see something. Every one of them have to be aware of their surroundings and enemies. He doesn’t just get to not pay attention because it’s Billy’s job LOL. He legitimately tried and didn’t see anything, probably because it moved a little when billy looked and stopped moving when Dutch looked. Harder to see if not moving obviously
I honestly thought he was remembering from the past. Hearing tales about the predator hunting for humans in his tribes. It kind of makes sense now since Prey has come out. Female Native American did defeat Yautja on her own. Stories all passed down to each generation. I honestly think when Billy heard the sounds of his voice mimicking to the point that this predator loves hunting on trees. The smell around them is the same smell that there tribes describe to them. I think in that scene, Billy remembers and knows what they were dealing with. The major giveaway is how they found Gerneal Hopper and his men. Hang upside down and skin alive. There was no footstep on the ground. So whoever did that to those men hunted them on the trees. No human or animal would do that. You can tell in this scene that he know what they are dealing with. This is also the same scene where Anna tries to escape and gets Hawkins dead. When other team members find Anna with Hawkins blood all over her, and she is petrify, look in her face. Then, a little later, Jesse Ventura gets killed, too. After that scene, Billy knows that this thing is now hunting them. This is why Dillion tells Billy that he is scared of no man. Billy responded it isn't no man, and they are all going to die. Billy knew their fate were doom.
WRONG, it was because Billy's heightened awareness and spiritual guidance. If Billy heard a laugh, any laugh, being a soldier he would've alerted the others of impending danger (danger close). You're obviously trying to down play the spiritual aspect of the character to simply appease this woke zoomer generation. I'm not having it.
Wtf has 'wokeness' got to do with anything?! Or are you one of these people who hates wokeness so much they have to crowbar it into every interaction, regardless of context, and bore everybody to death with their flaccid insecurities?
Oh please. You’re using the word woke and have no idea what it means. He heard his laugh but didn’t believe it that he heard it. That’s why he was off the rest of the film. Besides, he did warn Dutch, but thought it was nothing and told him exactly that.
2 different scenes Bro. Billy drinking from Tree branch was much earlier when they discover bodies. The laughing scene was much later after raiding the communist guerrilla camp.
The scene where the Predator records and imitates Billy's laugh, is way after the scene where Billy "looks up" from drinking from the vine, so, no, that's bit when he first "senses" the Predator.
Was 18 and feeling great on some great smoke with 3 other friends. Became one of my all time favorites. "We're all going to die " Billy was good in 48 hrs with Eddie Murphy.
