This run that woods is on is not only something no-one in rap has ever done, it's getting close to something no-one in popular music has ever done. We're now dealing with an artist whose output over the last decade is comparable or greater than the peak years of Charles Mingus, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Prince, Radiohead. At this point perhaps only Miles Davis can be argued to have combined such high quality and longevity. Phenomenal.

Good names, these guys are in a league all their own, but Woods, Elucid, and Ka are like the father, son, and holy fuckin ghost of rap for me. And the guys taking number 4 and 5 on my top 5 personal favorites are Fly Anakin, and Earl easily. But there's countless others I could name, like Aesop Rock, and Mach Hommy, and Denzel Cury. People say rap's dead, the hell it is, we're in a new golden age man!

Love the hook switch from “hope it’s nothing but hoes in paradise” to “hope it’s nothing but love in paradise.” It’s the small stuff like this that makes woods one of the GOATs.

And it contrasts with the second hook, like he doesn’t know which one he wants. Or he does, but he can’t help himself wanting people back or wanting them to suffer. Either way, it’s a great song and line.

I haven't heard it as much as some of the other incredible projects from this year. Some of the best projects this year are so short they're considered EPs YOD's _Yodney Dangerfield,_ and Tha God Fahim & Jay NiCe's _Bloodspiller._ Best year for new HipHop releases in over 20 years.

Jeeeez... woods is relentless!!! And it's a new angle every time. Not your same regurgitated coke raps. Don't get me wrong, I like that stuff. But, it does become old quickly. woods, is lyrically and artistically always pushing the boundaries. I can't believe we got a double Ka drop and a woods drop out of the blue in the same month.

Gave a burned CD-r of The Chalice a spin in like Fall '04. Just knew he'd get to the throne if enough listeners could catch up. Wild it took close to two decades. This whole album builds so organically off the canon... perhaps excusing some SCFB. Intro to woods' now well aged track Holidaze came to mind off first rotation through Church: "Back of the bus, I95, going to meet the man - Home for the holidays, frankincense and haze for the fam".

@@meechy9166 Totally agree! I think people are slowly, but finally catching onto woods and Ka. It's crazy to think they seem to be reaching their peaks respectively. I can only dream they collaborate one day. Roc, also got a very good discography. A lot of Emcee's seem to fade after 3 or 4 albums. Ka and woods keep on elevating.
