I've made a new video recently comparing Bilt Hamber Auto Foam to some other snow foams including Bilt Hamber Touch-Less. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hVQAmVWvCpM.html

Thanks - just reinforces my opinion on this product. Sorta gave up on snowfoaming as my results were OK at best, rarely worth the hassle of setting up and TBH I felt the rinse with the pressure washer did most of the cleaning. Tried the BH Foam and now I am a convert. Here in Australia the BH Foam is about $90 !!! But now I use air foamer an only use about 60 to 80 mls per wash so not too exxy

Yeah it’s a really hard one to beat! Most snow foams are just good for taking photos but this one makes it actually worth while. That’s pretty expensive, it’s so much cheaper here. Hopefully BH start making it easier to get hold of out of the UK.

I've been using the bilt hamber auto foam for a while... Much higher concentration usually 50/50 in my snow foam bottle. It gets a reasonable amount of foam but I definitely agree on the cleaning power of this product. I'm around £1.50 a wash but find that the longer dwell time from a thicker foam helps to soften up the harder grime and makes my contact wash a lot easier.

I guess this depends on how dirty your car is / how long you / your customer goes between washes? I’m going to try some. I just need to find a good snow foam ‘bottle’ to connect to my hosepipe :)

Very good review - totally agree with you regarding the product. There is a big misconception regarding foaming effect and cleaning power. More foam does not mean better cleaning performance. I can vouch for this product as have used it for many years and out performs more foamy products. This was the first clip of yours I’ve seen and impressed, so earned sub :-) Take care!

A thicker foam contains more air. It looks good but a runnier foam actually penetrates the dirt a dissolves it better.

Great honest review 👍🏻 I have just started valeting/detailing as a business and have tried a few other brands such as ValetPro and CarGODS which do produce a thick almost shaving cream style foam that looks great but I have noticed that a lot of dirt is left behind when jet washed off and it just means much more to break down using a contact wash which I am not keen on doing. I have just purchased a bottle of this after watching your review as everyone else keeps saying it’s the best to actually break down the dirt and the rest are best for Instagram 😂

@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 4 года назад
At the moment I usually just use a microfiber wash mitt and shampoo and then a damp microfiber or light-pressure hose if it’s not too risky to rinse it all down with. I normally put some Sonax BSD on the door shuts on my car to help clean them next time as well. I could do with picking up some Optimum No Rinse as well, it sounds like the best option!

You can use it sprayed on with a pumpsprayer :) It's my favourite by far , I have better products for insects but I just use them on the spots and use this on all the car.

We all accept that we're going to have to do a contact wash after snow foaming. That's a given. So, what is the purpose of snow foam? I see it simply as a way of gently removing crud off the panels that could scratch in the following contact wash, The dirt, not crud picked up off the road surface driving in the rain, has got to be mechanically washed off. No? So why not use a gentle pre wash? High ph does not necessarily remove dried on sand. As for Auto Foam being more funny than others, I actually think it is a positive. Thicker foams can dry out before they resolve and carry away crud and grit. Don't know if I'm right but that's how used it. PS Enjoying your channel immensely. I'm starting from the oldest videos first.

Excellent 👌 and thorough review. I live in the United States and Bilt Hamber auto foam finally made it over here. So I had to try it since GB and EU have given it high praise. I used it yesterday at 1:3 and 1:5. I have to admit I was uncomfortable at first because the foam was so runny but then I remembered that Forensic Detail had mentioned that. It definitely cleans which is what I was looking for and pretty foam that doesn't clean is worthless. Anyway what would happen if you let it dry? Because since I was caught off guard on how fast it ran off the paint that part of it was drying out by the time I got the pressure washer back on. I didn't notice anything but I was interested in what I'll effects I could expect.
@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 3 года назад
Thanks very much for watching. That's good news, I was wondering when it would finally go to the states! Yep it's definitely on the thinner side but the cleaning power is brilliant. I've accidentally let it briefly dry a few times before and it's not caused any damage. I think there's the potential for it to cause soap stains if it really bakes onto the paintwork which wouldn't be too bad to remove if it was done pretty quickly after it happened.

Hey, good video! I’m new to doing my own detailing and was wondering. If I use the Bill Hamber can I use a wash mitt to rub down while the foam is on or is the idea to just leave the foam on and rinse off? Secondly, once I have rinsed off is it ok to then spray a ceramic spray wax on and wipe off? Sorry for the newb questions, just wanna get it right. Car is black and streaks are a nightmare!
@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 2 года назад
Thanks for watching :) I wouldn't recommend using a mitt with this product. It's only designed to pre-wash the car so I'd recommend applying the product, then rinsing after a around 4-5 minutes. Then use a car shampoo to clean the car with the mitt and rinse, and then use the ceramic spray waxes. Some spray waxes are designed to be used on wet cars and others when the car is dried so double check before using that one :)

Thanks for watching! If I’m cleaning a vehicle that’s not too dirty then I normally go for roughly 1 part snow foam and 4 parts water in the cannon which is around 2% PIR with my equipment. But if I’m cleaning a really filthy car then equal amounts of snow foam and water in the cannon to give me a 5% PIR works well. Hope this helps!

I think if your happy with your current prewash then there’s no real need to change it up, unless you’re getting bored of it! Even though this snow foam is alkaline, the sealant degradation will likely be really hard to notice at all as it’s not super aggressive and still gets diluted quite a bit when it’s put through the canon

@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 3 года назад
Most snow foam cannons usually come with an attachment to fit onto the jet washer, when you place an order you’ll normally be able to just choose which is compatible 😊 some jet washers don’t let you change the attachment though and have a fixed lance so it’s worth checking first if this can be taken off!

I have to say I'm highly disappointed with BH auto foam. I've used it at around 4% PIR and it still barely cleans the dried rain dirt spots that remain after a thick foam is applied and rinsed off after a few minutes. I'm using 250ml in a 1L bottle as it disposes about 13L to empty a bottle. This makes it pretty expensive and even more so when it barely cleans a week's worth of dirt of a car that has sat in the driveway for a week. We have soft water in Melbourne and so water quality isn't an issue.
@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 3 года назад
That's really annoying, it seems like you're using a high concentration of it as well. I'm not really sure why it wouldn't be shifting that level of dirt, it seems to work pretty well on my car. Have you found any other snow foams or pre-washes that work better?

Thanks for the video, im interested in how you worked out your dilution ratios. I used their recommended PIR ratio of 4% and for me with my Karcher K4 I need to use 490ml of BH in a 1L lance, which is basically 50/50. This works out at £1.80 per wash or 90p if I can get it done only using 500ml of mixture. I thought i'd try something new as nearly £2 on just the snowfoam stage of a wash is ridiculous to me. I went for Infinity wax Powerfoam as they claim it can be used up to 50:1. I used it at 20:1 which means for a 1L snowfoam lance I only needed 47ml of product which works out at 31p per wash if using 1L lance on a car or 15p if I can get it done with only using 500ml of solution. I think BH is a great snowfoam, but IMHO the dilution ratios let it down massively. Powerfoam at 20:1 cleaned just as well as the BH and costs 6x less per application
@ruisilva3317
@ruisilva3317 Год назад
On the back of this, I also calculated PIR with a Karcher K4 and I had the knob on my snowfoam lance to full and it calculated I needed like 800ml product and 200ml water which I think is ridiculous
