BIMHUIS Records presents: Ground Wire by Hristo Goleminov
On April 28, BIMHUIS Records presents Ground Wire by Hristo Goleminov. Ground Wire is the fruit of Hristo’s research into the aesthetics and compositional techniques of 17th and 18th century classical music from Europe. The album is now available for pre-order.
The classically trained saxophonist Hristo Goleminov moved from Portugal to Amsterdam to study jazz. At the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Goleminov researched how he could employ baroque music as a model for jazz composition. At BIMHUIS Productions, he expanded his research into a live repertoire and studio album. Goleminov became fascinated by counterpoint: a compositional technique with a focus on the mutual independence of musical voices, without losing cohesion. When he closed the books, he invited his octet to improvise based on his compositions. “A democratic creative process”. The result is the dazzling Ground Wire.
Ground Wire is out on CD and Bandcamp on April 28th.
