***** Interestingly enough, that's where the vast majority of ASMR comes from, or, that is, why it relaxes us the way it does. When we're young, we are subjected to all kinds of sounds when our parents pamper us, touch us, groom us. Frequently this was done when we were exhausted, and just wanted to sleep (an example of this happening a tad later in life, for those of us who are ancient, is the sound of someone writing lots of letters on a chalkboard. Since school was held so early in the morning, at least *I* was absolutely exhausted, so the chalk on the board, even today, brings back that feeling of exhaustion--amazing the power of brain and memories, no?). For me, anything which sounds like when my Mom would stroke my head while was lying down is an instant trigger, as is talking into one ear or the other. Sounds that do NOT work for me are more modern sounds (crinkling sounds, spray bottles, and the like, as they were very uncommon, if not non-existent when I was a kid). Yes, I'm a behaviorist by trade, and am studying ASMR to better understand it, so this isn't all just some random guessing or anything. ;)

Art Scott Maybe for some people, but for others it's the opposite. I for one, absolutely *detest* talking in asmr videos, especially if they are prone to those god awful "mouth sounds". I tend to like those crinkly, tapping and popping sounds, because they make me feel at ease. Even as a kid, crumpling leaves or paper was a thing I liked to do, but popping my knuckles was (and is) a favorite, along with snapping fingers. Oddly enough, I _do_ like the hair brushing and head massaging videos. The reason it's odd is that, when I was a kid getting my hair done was *not* relaxing in the slightest, and was in fact a great source of discomfort and stress because I had nappy hair, and was tenderheaded.

AwesomeSpider4 That would depend upon what you're trying to say is "the opposite" for some people. For all people who have specific triggers, they trace back to some point in childhood, up through the end of one's formative years. It's one of the reasons you'll find older Americans *far* more prone to ASMR from classroom chalkboard sounds than you will younger folk (like, those who never heard a chalkboard being written upon while half asleep, even taking naps in kindergarten and pre-school, since we eventually moved to whiteboards), while the opposite is true of white board sounds. I remember stumbling into classes half awake from 3 to 21 and hearing someone writing on a chalkboard (but quickly, so it's the impact of the chalk on the board which is most soothing, not the dragging of chalk across the board, and also why slow tapping, say,

MoPro Uploads Asmr to me feels like I took a painkiller, vicodin or something. It is an awesome numbing relaxing feeling. I only found out about 6months ago that there was a name for the experiences I've had. it proves to me that we have the ability in our own minds to control how we feel. We just need to master it.

They're supposed to be used to clean any earwax on the outer region of the inner ear, if you go too far in the actual ear canal you can risk pushing earwax towards the ear drum which can become impacted
