Good clear demo of a neat mitre that works every time and leaves neat corners. This video also shows one of the easiest and neatest ways to join the ends of the binding strip for a wrinkle free join.

Thank you! New to quilting and binding has been my toughest part to learn. Really like how easy you made it look in your video. It looks like you’re using a 1/2” presser foot when you’re for the top of the quilt. Is that correct?
@veevee111

I really dislike hand stitching so seeing a binding machine stitched makes it less tedious. I only wish content posters would keep us newbies in mind and discuss needle size for this type of job due to dense layers. Also, best feet to use, thread tension, stitch length, etc. It cuts the frustration of having to troubleshoot--a newbie has enough to worry about 🙂 Thank you for this tutorial.

I'm confused about the corners on the front of the quilt. Which way do you press & clip them before doing the decorative stitch?
@susanwaller1848
@susanwaller1848 Год назад
Do you still stop a quarter of an inch before the corner even if your binding is wider ?
@babylocksewing
@babylocksewing Год назад
The quarter inch is a common seam allowance and therefore it is typical to stop a quarter of an inch from the edge to create the angled stitch. However, you can adjust your seam allowance depending on your binding size and desired look, and therefore would adjust where you stop accordingly!

what foot are you using for this binding?

If you use a walking foot, can you use a decorative stitch? How do you end the stitch on the decorative stitch?
@ebriggs3498
@ebriggs3498 6 лет назад
I pull the thread thru from the top to the bottom and knot them. You can bury the knot with a needle if you want to.
@carolcthomas8432
@carolcthomas8432 6 лет назад
I hadn't gotten that far with thread questions. I just didn't want to do a serpentine stitch and the needle break as I was using a walking foot.
@gmsmolen
@gmsmolen Год назад
Ok but I have some tips for your instructions because here is where I struggled with the mitered corner. I understood and your camera clearly showed that when you angle off into the corner you are not back stitching at all. BUT after you FOLD the corner and start your 1/4 inch do you back stitch there or not. Do you start in 1/4 inch or start off the fabric and then continue without any back stitch. As a new person to Quilting these are the kinds of camera shots and verbal instructions many of us need.\
@babylocksewing
@babylocksewing Год назад
Hi Gina, there's no harm in backstitching during this process. Just make sure to pay close attention to how much space to leave at the end to finish the binding. Thanks for your feedback for future tutorials.

You don't need to buy Wonder Clips, a less expensive brand works just as well. I also got mine from Amazon. Got a small tin of about 50(?) two different sizes for next to nothing.
