Bing Crosby left us on October 14, 1977. I was a Sophomore at University. I had driven over to my mothers home and turned the T.V. set on. The newscaster told the sad news. I wept and wept.

This song was Bing's 'My Way'. And I am grateful that he never got to sing MW for he would have trivialised it. He got stuck in the rut of 'entertainer' and never developed the maturity and introspection that his student Sinatra did. Got stuck making money with his equally asinine buddy Bob Hope. Great entertainer, Crosby, but his children and grandchildren probably nurtured him more than he, them. I worship him.

In private he was a nasty piece of work. He left his wife nothing when he died, only said she could still live in the house (not own it). He was abusive to one of his children & liked shaming him in public. Two of his sons committed suicide. And of course he had affairs.
