I made my retort based on your design. It works great. After I butcher, I turn all the bones into biochar. Because they are green, some of the bones have to be run through a few times. I'm working on turning my chicken yard into a compost yard similar to yours. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Man that is awesome to hear! The chicken yard requires alot of work but yields an incredible amount of compost in a small space and the chickens are happy to help. Good luck and thanks again.

Thanks for walking us through from start to finish. This is something that I can do sooner rather than later since I still don't have the materials for a retort.

In-ground is a great option that doesn't require anything but time to process. Thanks Denis and good luck! 👊

This is what we do to our new raised bed areas the year before, as well as when we started our ploughed sections too.

I've had very inconsistent results with the Trench method...better with the tilted barrel method but 100% perfect with the mini coffee can retorts thrown in the woodstove as I heat the house all winter 👍

How you get it to be the right small size for putting in raised bed? I have heard contradicting information on the size. Some said it didn't matter while some said it has to be around 1/4" and not grounding into dust...so confusing. Please clarify on the size please like what is the best size for it's benefits. Thank you for all you do.

I actually have a video coming in the next few weeks about crushing biochar. Alot of different ways and schools of thought on the process. I like mine generally 3/8" to dust but there are no absolutes in my opinion. Thanks mandie:)
