Dev Anand was a next door neighbor of my father in Gurdaspur and was a close friend and class fellow of my chachea. Both were of same age and were 5 years younger to my father. Dev's father Lala Peshori Lal sahib was an attorney and used to do comparative religious study and thus used to borrow Quran Majeed from my father. My grand father was also an attorney who unfortunately died of ruptured appendix in 1923. My father took both Dev Anand and my chachea to Government College Lahore for admission where they were class fellows as well. We still have Mr. Dev Amand's hand written notes and some English novels signed by him. My father is Masha Allah just celebrated his 104th birthday and can still remember interesting stories of the families. Interestingly both were keen to join army. My Uncle went to Dera Doon for training and Mr. Dev Anand went in to movies.
