This video is a very important part of Corvette history and a joy for me to watch since I have a beautiful 1963 Corvette convertible that just turned 53 years old. It cost $4,638.50 in January 1963 and today is worth over $100,000.00.
to James Marshall: larry shinoda passed away in 1997! Along with Zora Duntov, Corvette Engineer, Marty Millner 'Star of Route 66 died 2015 and Dick Guldstrand Hall of fame Corvette Race Car Driver and Engineer. 2015 All our hero's are becoming ghosts! But hopefully Mid Years Not( C-2's )will live on 4 ever.
I heard from another Mid Year owner there was a T-shirt at one point that said:" After 67 they stop making Corvettes"! GOT THAT RIGHT! Or at least after 76 they stop making Stingrays !
Actually, Chevrolet did continue Corvette production after 1967, beginning with the C3. It's just that Sting Ray (two words) became Stingray (one word) for nine years. From the C4 to the C6 the Stingray name did disappear. They've brought the Stingray name back now, with the C7.
Do to corvette racers like Dick Thompson, Dick Boo, Dick Guldstrand, Bill Sherwood and many other, the Cobra may have dominated racing from 64-68 but was not un-beatable. If anyone out there has footage for these few and rare great Mid Year victories and the Grand Sport at Nassau we'd love to see Them!
