Biography of Albert Göring: Hermann Göring's brother (1895-1966)

The name Göring it is inextricably linked with Hermann, the second man of Hitler's odious Nazi regime. However, he wasn't an only child. In fact, Hermann had several siblings. Among them was Albert. Even though his brother personified evil, Albert did everything he could to save Jewish citizens and political dissidents after the Nazis seized power.
His name and deeds have mostly been forgotten after the war, which is all the more reason to dedicate a video to him.

Following the 1938 Anschluss, the Nazis incorporated Austria into their German Reich. Over the next few years, more and more antisemitic legislation was issued. They oppressed Jewish civilians while slowly but surely Europe descended towards what would become the Second World War. One of the men responsible was one of the most influential figures of the Nazi party: Hermann Göring. Thanks to men like him, Nazi brutes had free reign to terrorise Jewish civilians, as happened one day in Vienna. When a few Sturmabteilung thugs forced elderly Jewish citizens on their knees to clean the cobbled streets, a crowd gathered and jeered. But one man walked up, took off his coat and began scrubbing the streets with them in solidarity.
Angered at this seemingly German man’s civilian disobedience, the SA-men asked for his identity documents. When he showed it to them, they abruptly halted the humiliating practice and ordered the elderly people to go on their way. Because the identity documents revealed this man was Albert Göring, brother of the second-most powerful man in the Nazi Reich.
Thank you for taking the time to check out House of History, I hope you will find the films informative, interesting and enjoyable!

Great video! It is uplifting to know that Herman Goering’s brother named Albert opposed the Nazis and was a devout Roman Catholic. He helped countless Jews by saving their lives. Yeah. It is weird that say even in school history books or history articles about Hermann.... there is no mention of "oh by the way Hermann's brother was a massive anti-nazi, openly, but Hermann still used his influence to bail out his brother" as part of just.... live and acts of Hermann Göring and his vast influence in the Reich.

Albert's biological father was the Jewish lover of Goering's mother. Despite that, he was never betrayed by his half-brother.
@lufsolitaire5351
@lufsolitaire5351 Год назад
Hermann Göring himself despite being anti-Semitic skirted the Nuremberg laws himself when it suited him like when his top Luftwaffe commander Erhard Milch came under suspicion; he forged documents and got Milch’s mother to renounce her possibly Jewish husband and had Milch “aryanized”. To him I believe he said “I decide who is a Jew and who is not”. Despite being an evil fat bastard, his one redeeming quality was that he was a devoted family man(was faithful to his wife and spoiled his daughter like a princess; one of the few top nazis to not have mistresses which is surprising as the infamous nazi fratboy) and that included his possibly half-Jewish brother which he bore no ill will towards despite his brother obviously going behind his back to protect Jews and publicly denouncing Hitler.

The life of Albert Goring is most interesting and sheds light on the life of his brother Hermann Goring much more clearly than is the case in other videos such as the life of Hermann Goring's first wife Carin. It is indeed very sad that so many people during the World War II period are misunderstood today. Hopefully this video and others will help to shed light on the true life of individuals such as both Albert and his many Goring relatives.

He was not! He personally ordered the mass annihilation of Jews. Your statement is utterly stupid. You might as well have said that if only Hitler's sister had somehow got her brother to see the kind of people he was associated with. Herman was evil to the core and a coward at his death.

Very interesting. I watched an interview with Herman's US Army translator from the Neumberg. He was a German-American Jewish kid whose family escaped pre Germany. He went through mountains of documents with Goering and prosecutors. Many were orders Hermann had signed releasing individual German Jewish WW1 veterans from camps before the Holocaust was instituted and this wasn't possible anymore. Among those he released was the translator's grandfather, who was unfortunately later rearrested and killed. I suspect Goering was less the good natzi and more the egomaniac seeking power and wealth.

If only others who, like Albert, refused to hang images of Hitler, had been able to escape their punishment. My Godfather's father (this is the story I was told as a child at least) owned a Gasthof very near the Mohnesee Dam. His refusal to hang a portrait of Hitler was purportedly the reason he was forced into the military. He was on duty on the Mohnesee Dam when the British bombed it, and his remains were never found. His son was incredibly proud of his father's stand, even if it did cost the older man his life. Growing up in Germany in the 1960s as a Canadian kid was a wonderful experience, as we learned more about life under the Nazis than we were ever taught in school. Most of the German people we were close with had never fallen in line with Nazi ideology, but learned to minimize their risk of punishment by keeping quiet about politics. Since my Dad was a soldier, we toured many sites of interest from WWII, like Monte Cassino, the beach at Anzio, and the Canadian war cemeteries across Europe. I was incredibly blessed to learn the lessons I did from both sides of the war. Such immersive lessons were not possible in any classroom setting.

Austria was not "annexed". 99% of Austrians had voted to become a part of the German Reich and shared Hitler`s political views. Towns and villages who had reached 100% votes in favour of becoming part of the German Reich proudly presented their results When Hitler returned to Austria as the "Führer" on March 15th, 1938, he was welcomed as Austrias`s new leader. Hundredthousands lined up in the streets of Vienna to pay their respect to Hitler,. Hitler held his famous speech at the Heldenplatz and Austrians were ecstatic and cheered him on. I am the descendant of Austrian war criminals who instigated attacks on jewish citizens and made my hometown "judenrein" before the "Führer" had even arrived. I am a descendant of Shoah survivors as well. My greatgrandparents were beaten to death when they defended their little shop against looters a few days before the "Führer`s" arrival. Others were gassed in Auschwitz. My grandfather survived death camps and death marches, but murdered by a former SS guard in 1956. People still stuck to Hitler and made the ex SS guard a hero and shifted blame onto my grandfather for walking in the road side ditch but on the road side. Even today there are tons of Austrians who defend the crimes of their Nazi ancestors and blame the jews for their own extermination. The "annexation of Austria by Hitler" is a myth perpetuated by descendants of ardent Nazis who still refuse to condem the complicity of Austria.

And that is good. We don‘t need Natzis because they destroyed Germany and half of Europa. They are guilty of murdering millions and the death of several relatives of mine whose graves are in Russia. They are guilty, because one of my uncles had to hite himself. He didn‘t agree with the murderes.
