Yes. Willow is a higher producer, but more difficult to cultivate. Hemp is a multipurpose crop who’s hurds can be used for energy. You can also break it down with a gassifier and convert to methanol which hopefully in the future will have very efficient fuel cells.
how does harvest plant promote pesticide use? if that is the case then wouldnt that be a concern in not only to burn plants but to harvest them to eat? I dont understand how this is different from fossils or are you saying that the carbon dioxide from fossils cannot be reabsorbed by the plants?
Harvesting plants makes it so you would want to get the most out of them, and not get them eaten by insects. So pesticides will be used more often to try to prevent that. Yes, it is a concern to harvest plants to eat because of pesticides. The carbon dioxide from fossil fuels will not be absorbed at a rate that could be offset by the plants that are being farmed. Fossil fuels are created from plants that have died thousands of years ago, and the carbon that was trapped in them is released when they are burned. Biofuels and other biomass generally is able to save around the same amount of carbon that is released when they are burned, but some emissions are still released. Also, fossil fuels can only be burned once, you can't regrow them like you can with biomass.
